Utah!

So I got a couple sultans, lavender bantam cochins and old english game hens. I thought the old english hens were seramas lol. Decided to still put them with my serama flock since they look so much alike. They are surprisingly sweet girls. Anyone familiar with the sultan breed if so what was your experience? Finally starting to get eggs coming in again. I'm really happy about the olive color.

Wow lisa that does not sound fun! I've just discovered I've got a HUGE mouse problem myself.I'm about to let my ferret out in the walls so she could kill them all. Also having sparrow problems but luckily my seramas hate them and chase them away. I hope everyone is having a stress free day. Better yet month!
Red sorry about all the problems you have been having! Wish you luck and I hope everything goes your way! Good luck:)
It has been pretty quiet on here lately. Thinking everyone has been busy trying to get ready for winter, I know I am :)

Brian, those eggs are beautiful!!!

Lisa, I am soooooo excited to hear you think that silkie is a girl. She (

) is a favorite amongst my kids. She even has a name. Less than half my chickens do, so that's a big thing.

I do have a friend who is looking for a few pullets just about to point of lay. I'm guessing they only THINK they want that- I suspect if they knew how much they cost, they'd rethink, but you never know. Anyone have anything?

I've seen a couple ads on ksl. I went to go pick up a black cochin and they also had for sale a cuckoo maran and a white ameraucana. I only wanted the one. They are only $10 and are just laying. (6 months old).

Sphinx, I have a few pullets that are getting close to POL. Delaware, BSL, and a barnyard mix that is very pretty. If your friends are interested, I'll give them all three for $10. I need to downsize before winter hits.

Brian, I'm drooling over those olive eggs. How pretty! We have mice that show up here, too, but between the three cats we own and the other predatory animals around here, they never get too out of hand.

I've got 2 cats but one seems to just play with the mice. My other will hunt them but doesn't always see them. My dog has brought me a few mice throughout the years lol she's so funny. I'm about ready to get an outside cat and raise it with the flock so it can hunt the mice outside. The girl that lays the olive green eggs is turning out to be a great layer! She started laying almost 2 weeks ago and has only took one day off, which was the day after her first egg. Good girl I was starting to starve hahaha.

Urg, I just posted one of my cockerels on KSL. I really hate doing that, since I get so many good boys and I know they'll probably just get eaten, but I can't afford to keep them all. He's one of my mixes that came out of my RIR hen and I just love him, but I can't use him for breeding. Dangit! If whoever takes him is having him as the guest of honor for dinner, I hope they do the job quick and clean. I don't like to think that any of my animals suffer, even if they're not mine anymore.....

That does look female! yay! I see this one is non bearded--I got another one in that batch that was non bearded, and it has wattles

So yup yours should be a 'she'.

Red- hope court goes well. This needs to be done! Yes? Try to remain positive... easier said than done

4 extra male quail, free if anyone wants them for dinner....they are 5 weeks old and getting almost full sized.

All my polka dots are turning out regular feathered. Not a silkied bantam sized one in the bunch. All look like turkens with black skin. So crazy looking.!

We are starting to have mice problems again....opened the feeder last night to fill it after dark and it was chuck full of mice chowing down. Brats, I better get traps out again. It grosses me out because I do not like to empty them at all, little writhing jumping panicking little rodents come flying out in all directions when I open them. YUCKY. Ewww.

I might take you up on the quail offer!

Does anyone want a free 10 week old Silkie roo? Not sure of the color yet, maybe Porcelain, maybe Partridge. He is ten weeks old. He has the slow feather gene as you can tell but the end result is very satisfying. Oh ya he is already practicing his singing. He is bearded but it is coming in real slow. He is very nice and loves to be played with.
