Tell, not sure if this will help you out or anything. But I'm at day 16 with 17 eggs that haven't quit out on me yet. I candled last night and had 2 more quitters. And I'm still not sure on 2 eggs, they are just too dark. I have most likely Silkie Eggs, left, and a few NN Mixes, and I have 3 eggs from Red that I'm praying will hatch, and 2 that I have no idea on because they are just too dark. I'm 100% positive both Olive eggs quit, but I still have some nice blue greens in there. If I have a good hatch, your welcome to have a few of them for your Broody. I'm in Cedar Hills, so I might be the closest. I just think I'm too far away to try to get you almost ready to hatch eggs. I'm planning on locking them down on Friday Night. Just so you know my last hatch, I screwed up and lost the 2 that I had in there. So I'm praying that this doesn't happened again. So far so good, but I'm starting to worry that I might screw up again.
So let me know if you want to try with a few day old chicks, they would either be a 100% Silkie or a NN barnyard mix. I'm planning on keeping the EE's that I got from Red, praying that all 4 hatch, because I really want some colored eggs. With my luck they will all be boys.
On the chicken math note. I think I'm going to sell 3 maybe 4 chickens all where hatched last July-August, and I think most have started to lay. I'm getting like 9 eggs a day now since its gotten warmer, But I'm way over my limit and I'm hoping to keep some of these chicks at least till I see if they lay a nice pretty colored eggs. So this is what I have 1-Brown NN, 1-Speckled Sussex, 1-Light Brahma, and I'm really thinking of selling my Cuckoo Maran, feathered legs that I got last April. I'm sure she is laying, I'm getting 2 Maran Eggs a day, and I only have 2 out there that would be laying right now. All of these pullets have been vaccinated too, they are all ones that were purchased, not barnyard hatched. I'm going to be sad to see them go, but I need to thin out and I have way too many brown eggs, I need to get some color in there.
And Gary, I finally got a Silkie egg, unless its the Cochin Mix or the JB, because I found a little white egg in the middle of the run yesterday, right in the mud. I hope who ever it was figures out that they need to go in the box.
Cynthia I hope your son is feeling better.
