Edit: okay, I did find some other pics of light brahmas that look just like this one.... from the cackle hatchery page (can't link it without going through a moderator, so disregard my other post that will eventually come through)..

Hi all I'm home!!!!!!!!!
wee.gif
what is up with this weather. I was told how warm it is and not so much. I stopped in Orem and pickup my two roosters. They were so happy to be with hens. The hens are not to sure about them though, I'll post some pictures. Silly is there any chance you can take the chicks to my friends vet clinic in Orem? She closes at noon. I am so happy to be here. I went right out to my chickens and sat on a chair and just looked at them. They were like who are you? Back on my Oxygen and that sucks but the minute we hit beaver canyon with the altitude. that the price I pay but it still feels so good. I'll post my pictures of the roos soon

I don't think its a light brahma, its doesn't look like what mine looked like, I would say maybe a buff. My light brahma was almost blue on the whole back. We ordered 4 of them, and they all looked like that. So I would say either a Buff Brahma or Cochin, but I'm going more towards Brahma, I would think that the Cochin would have more fuzzy on the legs. Just my thoughts.

Yes, I can take them down there if you want, or I can bring them up on Saturday. I'm meeting Wendy with some OE eggs for the Easter Hatch Along. Either way. They have been going outside every day but today, and they love it. They were 5 weeks old last Monday, so they are going on 6 weeks. Not sure on Gender. Sorry.

see, that's the thing, I looked up the buff brahmas too, thinking 'maybe' there was a chance... but they looked just like the light brahma babies with blue on their backs, but their face was more 'reddish'.

I was pretty much convinced it was a cochin, until I looked up on the hatchery I listed above.... and they had some that looked like this little one.... *shrug* I dunno... I guess I'm happy either way ;) we'll just have to watch as she feathers out :D

Is anyone going to the Chase Hatchery in SLC (Taylorsville?) on April 2nd? (from Utah County). If so, I might need my order of 2 chicks and 2 ducks picked up, and I can meet somewhere in Utah County

So, I might be moving out of state... However, my birds would need a health inspection and I want to take precautions to avoid my birds getting the diseases that disqualify them from being able to come with me. Could anyone tell me about these diseases, how common they are in a backyard flock, how to prevent them? Also, would it be necessary to get a NPIP license? This would be my only instance of having to do this. I'm just doing my research in case.

Pullorum-Typhoid
Avian Influenza
Mycoplasma Gallisepticum
Mycoplasma Synoviae

it has feathered feet, but the one next to it is a BO. I looked at pics for Buff Brahmas, and they too have some dark coloring on the chicks..... that's why I keep thinking it's a cochin...

The light Brahmas do have black in their wings, and their necks..right?

I've been looking, have seen some babies with some coloring on their backs, and a lot of these, without coloring on their backs. What ever yours is, it sure is cute!
