Utah!

whew you guys have been busy! Welcome to newbies and familiar faces alike. I'm still lurking through my temperamental phone, no internet at the house yet. Just wanted to say hi. And we found out cougars are coming down into the neighborhood at night, yay. Guess I'll be making sure everyone is locked up for bed.

Yippee.. just scored me another brand new shipping crate to make into a mini baby coop. The babies are going to be going outside shortly! They will be so happy. Of course I will for sure be bringing them inside at night since I don't like them out there till about 8 weeks overnight. But now they can go outside, and I won't worry about them just having the small dog crate I put out there. And they haven't been outside for over a week. Dang weather. Hoping to pick it up today, have it built by tomorrow and out they will go.

Hey all, I just wanted to ask again (now that the hatch a long has started), does anyone have any fertile eggs in/around SLC area? My friend has an unbreakable broody and I would like to help encourage her chicken addiction

She is only looking for a few (4 or so), since this is a first time broody. Let me know.

One a side note...she is the one that I gave the chicks that I hatched from Sundance to. She has a frizzled EE that is super cute!

Looks like I got a barred rock rooster from IFA. Now what? Hang on to it? Can you confirm off this pic that it is indeed a rooster? The distinct mark on the head makes me wonder though.

The thing that looks the most rooster-ish is the ratio of white to black--roosters are lighter---the comb looks like it could go either way still, it probably is a boy, but I would wait a bit if it wereme just to be sure. I have rehomed 2 out of 6 BR this Spring from Cal Ranch. I have one more questionable...those are not good ratios for supposedly sexed pullets! :barnie I feel your pain :/

I would be willing to bet a drink that that's a boy. Like Lisa said, it's more of a white chick with some black, and pullets are usually the opposite. Plus, that comb is big.
