Utah!

whew you guys have been busy! Welcome to newbies and familiar faces alike. I'm still lurking through my temperamental phone, no internet at the house yet. Just wanted to say hi. And we found out cougars are coming down into the neighborhood at night, yay. Guess I'll be making sure everyone is locked up for bed.
hey red. hope you are well. i know the feeling on the cougars, i had them in mind when building my coop for a reason. hope you and your babies stay safe.

welcome to all the new people. must be spring. always nice to have more people that like chickens :)

Thanks birdman :) so far we are all okay. Moved another roo out here last night and have had a bit of squabbling this morning, but so far they are okay.

Silly, I'm sorry but you have me laughing over here with you Japanese banty. Sounds like you have a mini Chelsea.

I finally got a phone that isn't crashing and resetting all the time, yay! I can talk again!

Cynthia, I love that picture of Sweetpea. She's so fluffy and sweet.

Thanks birdman

Red where did you move out too? The boonies? I guess I missed that post somewhere.

Yeah my little banty is a brat. Last year I was afraid every morning would be the last I see of her. Once it hit about the mid 60s at night, she would go up my huge pine tree like to the very top, and that thing has to be at least 50 plus feet tall, she would always jump my 6 foot fence and go next door. And she really is a little devil. When she was younger she would try to fight the bigger hens, and they were all scared of her, she would chase them off like no tomorrow. And she is feisty if you do catch her. She is my only one out there that is flighty, and a brat. HeHe, but I love her jet black, and how tiny she is. People don't even think she is a chicken.

Speaking of flighty birds. The 3 chicks that I hatched from you are ginormous to begin with, and they are extremely flighty. I'm hoping they come around before they are free in the yard. And every time I pick them up they scream like I'm killing them. Literally scream for all they are worth. Little stinks. I need to post some photos. I hope it warms up. I got the shipping crate, I just need to cut out a door, and out they will all go in the grow out pen. Yippee... I also bought another one that I'm going to start using as a brooder outside in my garage. I figured the next chicks should go outside with a heat light in the garage, they should be fine it will be the middle of April. Right?

Silly--I have been putting chicks in the garage with a heat lamp for a few weeks and they have been fine...they huddle a little at first but they have been fine. If i throw a towel over half of the brooder to keep heat in they stay plenty warm.

Red, glad to hear you are getting settled in. I have two icelandic roo chicks, one solid white with a cute mohawk crest, one chipmunk, you want any more boys? They are adorable. I am thinking you are probably good with what you have lol but it can't hurt to ask.

Anybody else interested in icelandic boys? SBEL boys?

Acemario, are you icelandic chicks looking like girls/boys yet, can you tell?

OK, I sent her an IM and will let you know if she is still looking for eggs. I told her about the Trader Joes eggs as a possibility, so she may have gotten some of those.

Does Trader Joes really sell fertile eggs. I might just have to try for fun. I'm addicted to hatching eggs, my husband is getting a little worried about the 43 in the incubator, he's like you know you will be a billion times over the limit. But I was like I'm only keeping 3 well maybe 10 to see who is who and egg color.
