Utah!

Okay, will 4 week olds be okay out in a coop without a heat lamp/light?
How cold does it get at night were you live? I personally think that is a little young. They don't have all their feathers yet to stay warm but if you live in southern Utah where it stays warmer you might be okay.

I'll vouch for Herc, too. He was nothing but charming when I saw him in person. Beautiful plumage, and I never got any threatening moves or noises from him when I was around his hens. And I've had jerk roosters, so I know what they sound like....got one in the freezer I still need to eat.

He is so beautiful and I am sorely tempted. I do want a beautiful roo for my girls but they are only 7 weeks old and I don't know how well that would go over. Plus I only have four possibly five hens and if he is a breeding machine, I don't think he would be happy with so few hens.

ooh I am sooo happy right now!

I took my little OEGB that has been crowing over to my neighbor that borders my coop, and talked to her, and apologized if he was annoying them and that he'll be finding a new home this weekend, and she said he was beautiful, and that she hasn't noticed him at all, and that she wouldn't mind him anyways even if she did hear him! I told my husband that, and he said that we can give him a longer trial run (till the end of the month)... I'm so excited! he's our absolute favorite chicken! He was just snuggled in my hand when I went over to my neighbors :) I'm sure when my hens start laying eggs (if they lay plenty) she'd love some fresh eggs :D

5 hens would be fine but he needs adult hens. He wouldn't get chicks
