Utah!

Hi All, I'm so far behind on posts but I did catch the pic of Hercules. If you don't find a home and you think he'd be good hawk prevention (and somewhat nice to the ladies) then I can give him a home. However right now has become a bad time. We have my husband's brother staying with us (cancer) and it looks like the battle's coming to an end.

I also lost the chick I purchased as a buddy for the blind chick. Tiny chick sized spot was covered twice in netting but something ripped it and she got out. Found her not eaten, just a small wound but under my porch on the cold rock. I do want to post a pick of the blind chick. Bantam cochin and I can't figure out what color he is, at least I think he's looking pretty he-ish darnit.

So... if Herc still needs a place PM me. I jump on when I can but the pages here add up quickly!

Stay safe all!

Elk

Brandi is coming to get Hercules tomorrow. thanks so much for the offer. Do you need a chick companion for the blind companion? I have a couple of chicks that would work out. Aren't you by park city?

I have a Sizzle chick!!! One of the three that was hatched by the two hens has curling feathers, and its a light color not dark. On a bad note the two i thought was silkies are not. They have straight feathered wing feathers coming in, But they have a huge dome so I'm really excited about how the will turn out. I had a young couple buy my Wellsummer roo on Sunday and they also bought the little crossed beak chick that i had. The wife seen it in the pen and just had to have it. It was kind of funny cause they were Hispanic and didn't speak good English but she was insistent about having it. The husband was asking all sorts a questions and the wife wasn't letting it go. It was a pretty little chick with feathered feet with blue color with red lacing. Finally he asked how much money as the wife was heading towards the car with the little one in her arms. I felt so good that it had found a home i told him 2 buck and the deal was sealed.

Gary, that's neat that the lady is going to baby the special one. Cute story.

I was awakened by my white silkie this morning. I knew I heard crowing yesterday. Ok. I now have a rooster..what now? lol First, I need to decide how much to cut this collar down.
Hey..@sundancenbare , is it hard to get the collar where it is supposed to be? Just above the crop..right?

Cynthia, those collars like to ride up a lot but yes they are supposed to be down a bit lower I am not sure how the lady on the website keeps her in place...she did say if the collar was longer it helps so I would keep it a little longer...my big roo seems to always have his up just under his head and its not working really well. Have not tried it on the silkies yet

don,t cut it down too much. Put it on as tight as you can then adjust it in a couple of days. he,ll be silly and walk backwards but after hes use to it you can tighten it

Elk, very sorry about your brother in law. Your family is in my prayers.

Cynthia, yay I think?

I have a total of six chicks out of the incubator. The seventh wasn't doing well and passed (chick from a crushed egg) Interesting side note, the last chick to hatch probably came from the hen I just lost. It has Exchequer coloring :)
