Just finished one of my all time favorite books. Hotel On the Corner of Bitter and Sweet by Jamie Ford. Ah. It is a historical fiction novel based in Seattle Washington, about a young Chinese boy and Japanese girl during the peak of World War II. It is such an amazing cultural novel that really depicts the Chinese American Japanese African Caucasian turmoil during that period, and how love is able to surpass the cultural boundaries... But would it be forever?! Ha. Go to the library and check it out. :)
Ok. That's all! Congrats on chicks and welcome newbies!

I had the most fun. I LOVE meeting BYC folks and helping out. Glad you liked the tour! No judging the den of Iniquity! LOL I am working on that mess right? Dang Dorito. :tongue She has got to go, YESTERDAY. Anybody on here want a 2 yr old GSL that is a laying machine? Her only issue is she thinks she is a dude and mates all the girls and has my roo with his nose in the corner and his head down as she tries to mate him as well. No one will stand up to her and I am fed up with all the feather picking. She is a total brat. BUT she lays great haha. Total disclosure, if you want a good layer, but who knows how she will act in a new flock.

Sundance, I feel your pain, that is a good looking roo Mr. Hercules. Your serama breeding will be so fun though, and you will have more time to deal with those now! Hope it all goes as planned.

Ace, I am googling that book right now and plan to read it. Thanks for the review!

Ruralpearls, it was great to meet you! What a fun surprise.

Cynthia, as we were looking at the amazing Ernie today, I was noticing how beautiful this blue/black roo silkie is getting, we call him Cinders...he is just beautiful. He has a row of silvery threads coming in around his neck, does that help us in knowing if he is blue or black? He is just so fluffy. I also noted that lots of the foot feathers were more gray than black. He is perfect so Ernie and he are going to have turns with the SG and Silkie hens. I might even make another pen for him. He is still growing, I can't wait to see what he looks like at maturity. I am guessing him at about 4 months does that sound right?

He should be 5 months old at the end of the month. like the 29th. My white is from the same gal..he is three weeks younger. Crowing now. Collar on..will see how it works in the morning..but..I do have it lose for the first day. He finally settled down.
I wonder if your silkie boy will look like this..are these the colors you are explaining?
Have to find the photo....

Not from the same gal. This is a blue. I have seen them with a more silver look.

Hi everyone. I have some chicks up for grabs. Three are Silkie/EE from a light blue egg. And one is Silkie/BLRW. I'm going to put them up for sale on KSl but will be glad just to re home them with my Friends here. If anyone is interested send me a pm. They are very healthy and happy. There is one that is a really nice light blue. All have feathered feet and 10 toes and blue skin.

Wow. Cynthia, that blue roo is stunning! Lisa, I hope Cinders ends up looking like that. Gorgeous!

Rural, all I gotta say is that Lisa is a huge sweetheart, and such a charming host :)

Lisa......too bad I don't live closer to you. I've got a couple of roos that would probably fix that hen real quick......one of my boys is a total softie, but the alpha roo thinks he's Mr. Macho and the third boy is young and super insistent on doing his job, haha. I had to put my psycho hen with him the other day because she would NOT stop picking on everyone. He put her in her place pretty quick.

Speaking of chicks.....I have a total of six beautiful, healthy babies from my hatch.

Hey cache valleyites! who wants some free sand for your coops?

I have extra sand from where I am putting my coop. It isn't in my chickens pens, but when I let them out in the yard they like to roam in it. Today would be best if you can come pick up a load. Pm me if you are interested.

Is the BLRW taken?? Oh I would love it but have no idea how I would get down to you.

Wow, I'm so out of the loop, I've been so busy with the new puppy, kids home from school, and inventories that I can barely check my emails. Anyways.... I'm running to Odgen this morning till about 2pm. Does anyone need anything brought south to Utah County area? Text me at 801.722.9127 if you do.

BTW Gary- my broody is doing awesome with the eggs. I candled them yesterday for the first time, they are at 14 days. 1 was non-fertile, and then the other 4 are growing, one has the biggest air sack possible, but its moving. It has more then 1/2 the top of the egg, and then dips down 1/2 the side air sack. But there is the tiniest chick in there and its moving. So left it, not really sure if that one is going to come out okay.

But....Sadly I think one of my Silkies has now jumped on the band wagon. Today is day 3 in the box. I'm mean and I take her out and put her on the roost every night. But not sure if she stays because shes back in the box in the morning. And she will just have to stay that way unless I find her some just hatched chicks and see if she takes them. Because I leave in 3 weeks to go away for a full week, and I'm not going to let her hatch eggs when I'm gone. I guess if she is still this bad next week when the others hatch, I guess I could try to find a few day old chicks, and see if she will take them, if not maybe my other broody won't notice if I put them in with her new chicks.
