So I guess my eggs are getting close to hatch. I checked on them yesterday when I went out to water, I just picked her up and looked for pips. Nothing yesterday. But today, she is screaming at me, and is attacking if I even try to get near her, so I just let her be. I don't hear any chirps yet. Today is day 20 on those Silkie Eggs. They are taking their sweet time. Every other Silkie egg I've hatched always seemed to pip at 18 days and was hatched by 19. Come on little babies, poor momma has been sitting since the beginning of June.

So, I finally got my custom built chicken coop a few days ago and I am highly highly impressed with his work. He followed all my specifications, and made it better then I could have imagined and for the best price compared to other professionals. It turned out beautiful, and very well made. I just love it and I think my girls do to :) If anyone is looking to get a chicken coop built I highly recommend Lance Henderson from Eagle mountain. I found him through ksl. Just spreadin the word, he did an amazing job :)

Lol Okay I will post some tonight :) The girls are finally using it on their own now. And Dixie is already using the nest boxes, and getting really comfy in it Uh oh lol. I went out there to give them a snack and she was the only one in the coop, and was laying in one of the nest boxes on an egg and was rolling it under her, and picking up pieces of hay bedding and tucking it into her feathers haha. I immediately thought Uh no, and hurried and took the egg and then she finally came out a few minutes later to get some fruit with the rest of them lol.

Hi all, just joined BYC and wanted to introduce myself. I'm in Saratoga Springs. We bought our first house a year ago and got our first flock of 5 hens this March, and just last week we got our first two eggs!
HI from your across the valley neighbor in AF
I am a new chicken herder as well...we have just been getting eggs from one of our girls...a GSL but with the signs that at least one if not two are starting up their laying...
Can't wait until I don't have to buy more eggs at the store as we are an egg eating family!

AWWW Cynthia your pups are just the cutest~
Our Belle a Lab mix is getting old and having hip problems and those little guys take me back to when she was a puppy...she is a shelter dog and has been the best!
