Utah!

We are going to have our chickens finally at our place starting tomorrow. I pen was finished in the dark so hopefully it looks as good tomorrow as it did tonight. It will be nice not having to drive 30 mins to check on them.

The only thing that might stop the chickens moving tomorrow is my boy who is sick. We had to rush him in to the Dr yesterday because of high fever and he couldn't sit up on his own. they said it is a virus and sent off samples to see if it is west nile.

Hope your boy is feeling much better today. How scary to think it could be West Nile. Happy chicken moving :D

Adding my best wishes that his illness is just a regular old virus...how old is your boy?

He is 16 months, and he still seems to be the same, hopefully he gets better soon. It is hard to see him lay around when he doesn't even like holding still when its bed time.

He was patient enough to let me get the pen ready and has been asking for chickens all day. When he wakes from his nap I will have to take him out to see that the pen isn't empty anymore.

i have had a busy day today. I've entered 10 chickens in the Salt Lake County fair. 6 Seramas, 1 Mille Fleur Duncle, A white frizzle cochin that I bought at chickenstock , A sizzle and a silkie. The only ones that are eligible for points with the American bantam assn are the three white seramas I'm showing 2 frizzles and one smooth. Everyone got their final bath and were blown dry today, And its a Miracle none of them turned blue or purple, LOL I hope some of you come to the fair and walk thru the poultry barn. I told you what I was showing so you can look for my birds. I don't expect to win because there is a beautiful white silkie that seems to always win, But I have fun

Hi everyone. Have a new picture of the chicks that i hatched in the house. I am celling 4 of them. I am keeping the two with high domes and big beards but the other 2 splash and the two with red are up for sale.

For you old-timers round here, what can you tell me of the BYC calendar? I see they are looking for submissions for the 2015 one and I wondered if any of you have any experience with it and or what might make an acceptable submission for it.

We got out the 'real' camera and this was taken with our second best one. All of my prior photos are from mobil devices, which are ok, and easy enough to use, but if you look close, well maybe you will not have to, you can see the difference in image quality.

I have a handful of shots in this vein that I am starting to gather, so as to have a couple of nice ones to fill my two photo limit. Any thoughts on how it might fair, or am I so far down the totem pole as to not even bother? As per my usual, a proud shot of Rooster Cogburn, my prize winning rooster.

This is the man of the house,

RJ

I have bought the calendar the last two years in a row, this would make a splendid picture for it! Love it!

Well RJ, I think your pic of Rooster Cogburn is a wonder pic and would think he would be a fine subject for the calendar but I am new so no insight! LOL

hgillins: It seems that little guys have those high fevers and then before you know it they are back to "normal". All of my grkids have gone through it except my youngest grd and she hasn't been sick yet but being nearly 6 mo old it's just a matter of time.
Bye the way do you have Gillins family in Minersville? I knew someone from there many years ago and I hear he and his family still ranch in the area

sundancebare: if I happen to make it to the SLC County fair I will look for your chickens. They all sound lovely!

Had our second 2/5 egg day in a row! Hurrah! I think I will have the stake out the coop to see who is new layer as it happens sometime between 9 am when I let them out and about 1 pm
