Utah!

Gary, very pretty bird! Is it a Campine? Sebrights have more white in them, I think? Either way, gorgeous!

Rural, I forgot to say thank you for your input on geese :) And thank you, too, Sundance! Now I just have to talk DH into some when we have our farm, hehehe. He's trying to talk me out of geese and says we can get a squeaky door, instead. Boo.

I ordered a circulating fan to try with the incubator since I was told it would increase the hatch rate by alot. And I am thinking about using some sort of tubing siphon like what you'd use to vacuum out an aquarium, so that I could just tube it down the air hole and into the water chambers below so I can easily fill from the outside.

Oh, you also used an egg turner right? How did you add water to the chambers during incubation if it went below 30, with the egg turner and eggs in the way? Did you have to take the whole thing out every time to add more?

The holes in the top, I used a straw.

She is a Egyptian Fayoumis. Pretty but loud. Maybe if i put her with the flock she will mellow out a bit. I'm thinking maybe i don't like this breed.
Gary she is an awesome looking bird. I hope she quiets down for you.

On a very, very sad note, I literally cried. I'm down one French Black Copper Maran. And I'm really thinking that my mixed pullet that I hatched from Red's eggs that I got in Feb. from her killed her. I've been having a lot of aggression issue with her, and I've actually separated her for about a week from the whole flock, she was on the other side of the fence so she could could still see the rest of the flock. I thought I broke her of being so mean. But she literally acts like an aggressive Roo, she will jump on everyone's backs, pins them down, and then pulls feathers out like mad. And she is laying, even when she was separate, so she is for sure a female. But my Maran was inside the main coop, with feathers ripped from her head down to her neck. I think I sat outside and literately cried, I was so sad, and I feel like this is my fault. I'm extremely ****** now, because I loved my chocolate eggs, and I just have my special needs girl left, and she lays maybe 1-2 times a wee. But this stupid bird has been outside with the main flock again for almost a week, and I hadn't seen any issues with her. I talked to my daughter about it, because she is like one of her favorite chickens, and the hen as for herself, is totally people friendly, she's like a lap dog, she is super friendly with people or she would have been gone months ago. I don't know what to do. And my daughter is like, lets just keep her on the other side of the fence. Well she is on the other side of the fence right now, but I don't know what else to do with her. I don't know if re-homing her would help, and if I did, I would need a Solid Black EE looking Pullet to replace her in hopes that my daughter doesn't notice, but she probably will. This chicken runs to her every time she goes outside. Any thoughts? Do you really think she actually did it, or I could have possibly had something else go in there and do this? I do live right below American Fork Canyon.

Karen, I am so sorry :( What a rotten little pullet! Sounds like she got the mean streak from her dad :( Well, that's why he's chilling in my freezer. I for sure wouldn't leave her with the other chickens.

karen you could remove her totally from the flock for a while, i mean so she cant even see them so when she gets back its like a new flock and she is at the bottom of the pecking order. sometimes adding a new girl could also help shake things up. i once had a mean girl i had to have put down, it was hard but she was mean to the other chickens and to people and it was just not worth it. my head hen will mount other girls but will not do it when i am around as i knock her off, just like a head rooster will with a lower rooster. my head hen is not mean at all tho.

Its okay Red, it totally not your fault. I still can't believe she did it, but I'm pretty sure she did. I sat outside all morning long watching her to see if she was going after anyone else, and she was just fine, well after I came in, she is on the other side of the fence. I put the dog crate back out there, but My husband was like just keep her, we have enough space to keep her separate, and we can just put shingles on the shipping crate coop that she has been sleeping in, and just let them all free range together, I don't seem to have issue with her free ranging, its only really in or near the nest boxes or the coop. Outside of the coop and in the run or free range she is fine. Its just the boxes and the coop. So I don't know what to do with her, but my daughter is so upset that we lost one chicken and that I might get rid of her favorite chicken, she's even telling me that I can get rid of the Houdan before Elsa. So that is speaking alot, because that stupid Houdan was like a house chicken last year, I would always catch her in the house with her in her bedroom. I don't know know what to do. I'm so very sad, because she is my only color egged right now too. I gave my 2 older 18 month old hens to our friend who just got a coop. And I really think my Olive Eggers have started laying, because I'm getting really odd looking brown eggs. So I don't think either of them are going to give me my Olive Egg. Oh well I guess I will be hitting Lisa up for some Maran's next spring or eggs in late winter to hatch out, maybe a few Olive Egger Frizzles too :D Just totally bummed out that it happened, and still cant believe it did.

Silly My GSL did that, i finally sold her, and it was funny how I did not feel bad once she was gone...at all. If she goes to a new flock it will likely mellow her out, the people that bought mine have been happy with her...she started out on the bottom and got chased around a bit so it pt her in her place. So sorry to hear about your trouble! And yes, I have olive egger eggs and frizzled olive egger eggs, Liz just hatched some of the babies so you can see the pictures here...cute...just holler anytime you want some.
