**squeeaaaalll** my EE laid her first egg!!! @cynthia12

Sounds good Ace!

Lisa, I just love this NN. She sure looks like she should be laying. Not checking nest boxes yet though. Hopefully soon. As soon as I say, they look like they should be, they start..I'll say that again tomorrow.

I call her Booties

See her little booties..as in boots.

Her legs are really green.
Could get a colored egg? That's an EE that I know will lay a
colored egg right up front. She is pretty too.

It was starting to get dark outside, but still got a some of her. :)

Here is a shot of a few of the babies now out of the Nursery Hutch, and in
a grow out pen..have used it for mama and babies too. They have grown
so much. They come out to the end of the run in the day. That's where
I am standing..outside of it.

No, that heat lamp isn't going anywhere, even if it were to slip off of
the wood where it is clamped! The wire on top is twined in and out
several times in the chicken wire. I've tested it a few times. Just dangles
if it isn't on the board. Not too close to the floor either. Have to watch
these heat lamps!

As I look at these photos, I see that the NN has lost some of her feathers on the one foot. There is a lot of white feathers out there. :/

Iluv, on looking closer at the little splash i pictured. sadly it is crossed beaked. Would be no good for breeding i do have a couple younger ones but they wont be as fluffy as this one. I am still setting eggs though and I'm sure i will get more that will be on the fluffier side.

It is bearded just covered with tomato. Is it just my chickens that love tomatoes or does anyone elses?

Mine love tomatoes, and apples, and the big huge sunflower I put out there for them..all of the seeds are finally gone out of it. They love pumpkin too..need to get a small one for them now that they are out. :)

Update! Mama hen took all the new chicks in... Absolutely no problem! Victory!

Also... One marans egg hatched while I was at work today! So... Of course... I slipped it under the hen tonight as well!

Ace, yaaaay! Your new mama sounds so cute with her babies.

Cynthia, I love how big and fluffy Booties is :) you sure get some nice EE's.

Bitsy, congrats! That is a beautiful egg!

Gary, mine like tomatoes. I have been tossing the mushy ones from the garden to them. My Wyandotte charges after them when I trow them in, haha.

She sure is cute. I wouldn't be breeding her. I decided to focus on breeding only paints for now. Does cross beak eventually become a problem for them?
