GORGEOUS! Are they Orpingtons?

Hey all, my mom lives in Salt Lake, and is searching for some SBELs. Does anyone have some chicks up for grabs?

Bah you're killing me lol! I'm willing to pay for shipping though on those beauties for sure! Let me know when I can talk you out of a dozen or so and I'll buy them if you ever want to sell some!

I'm thinking about getting chicks and was wondering if anyone has hints for adding more chickens to an existing flock?
I would first recommend not putting them together right at the start. I like to separate the pen so that they can all see each other for a few days to get accustomed to one another with a dividing fence between the two flocks. Then, when they seem to be accustomed through the fence, I put the birds in the coop in the middle of the night on the roost. Then, when they wake up, they are combined. The first day or two there is a lot of little quarrels, but eventually things work out after a few days. I would also keep barriers on the run that the new chicks can hide around. Also, be sure to not put them in until they are similar in size and can hold their own.

Ace has good advice! I have also found, once the chicks are a close enough size, introducing them in a free range situation is another good option. They will still need to figure out their pecking order, but extra space during that time never hurts.
