Ace, I get so many compliments on my feed bag "bag". I took refreshments to the basketball team in it last week and they thought it was very cool. You are amazingly crafty, love it.

I feel the "about to be overrun with chicks" status coming. Both bators with the Valentine's hatchalong eggs have quite a few still going, I expected it would be pared down a lot more by this point because I was not sure how many were fertile. And then a few orders arriving the next few weeks. I have my flock down by about half in anticipation of the newbies. I am already starting that business where I am making rules about how many I have to sell and the maximum I will allow myself to keep
Yes, I feel lack of chicken self control coming my way. I won't lie, it feels kinda good haha, and yet so naughty, (the little devils!) So I might be on here, doing the "Hi, my name is LISA...." business for support on curbing my bad habit...although there are a few of you that I fear are not going to help me out. Haha. Where is Silly by the way? Haha

With all this bird flu going around, don't you all think it would be beneficial to take down all wild bird feeders? I don't have any in my yard, but if I did, I think I would take them down.

I have been needing to put some bird netting up along my 10 by 14 run to keep my birds in their run, and ow I think I will do it tomorrow to protect my flock a little more.

Are you guys taking any extra precautions or am I going overkill?

Ace, I'm concerned, too. We need to get netting up over our run to keep the flock in and the wild birds out. We have a lot of birds here, and I love having them around, but it does make me worry with how virulent that flu is supposed to be.

I took my birdfeeders down. I have not let them free range other than throwing my roo out for a few hours each day so he does not get picked on...Now I have even stopped doing that. I have been letting my dog stay out in the yard the rest of the time to chase the birds away. Yup I have been pretty worried. My neighbor had a bird die just suddenly a week ago and so I am ultra paranoid. My chicks for sell are all staying up here at the house, and pretty rigorous cleanup/disinfectant going on after we go out back around the chickens. I am doing as much as I can, I don't think it can hurt! We have tons of birds where I am at, out by the marshy areas.

red i do not have too much going on in my garden right now. but i am planning it my bamboo is looking very nice, has all winter and i cant wait for it to get huge. as for the wild bird issue with bird flu my girls are mostly in their run and the birds do not hang around it too much as the cat hangs around it lol. i do not have a solid roof on my run tho so the fear is them pooping in it but if that happened it would be rare. i know waterfowl can be a big issue with bird flu but luckly none of those hang around. i still have bird feeders but they are where my girls cant get to or under and plus its not like they are drawing any more birds in and plus i feel bad for the wild birds. but yeah with my work with parrots bio security is a huge deal for me and a worry for both outside and inside flocks. lots of starlings hanging around, it has me worried but once again they stay away from my coop because of my cat who will even sit on the roof and scare them off lol. my cat also helps with any mice that might come around. another thing that might help some of you is get one of those fake owls to keep the birds away

I know the feeling. I have a trio of red breasted OEGB that I rescued and now it's time to find them a permanent home. But I really want to keep them. Except I'm not really supposed to have a rooster and even though his collar works like a dream I feel like he should live somewhere he is allowed to crow his little heart out. So away they go. . . .
