Red, sorry for the troubles, I just hate things like that, and all one can do is to pick up as many of the pieces as you can, then start again. I am getting to be an expert in this field. I feel the errant too will return, or so has been my experience in this regard. He is on the prowl for other chickens, and he will find yours…

Got my fingers crossed on your Viking Hatch, I believe this will be just pure fun, both for you and those of us here who are watching or following this adventure.

Thank you RJ. I haven't given up hope on him yet, so we will see if he turns up. If he doesn't find his way home or I can't find him, though, I hope I get another SC cockerel out of this hatch. This roo was my only SC out of four, and it's a trait I wish to preserve, as most people seem to prefer the RC's.

The eggs are doing well so far. I'd like to candle tonight and see who is developing already. I hope I don't have too many clears. The boys seem to all be doing their job, so crossies!
 
Well today I moved the nest boxes from the LF coop into the Banty coop, and then installed a row of new nest boxes into the large fowl building. No one likes the change, 'little but heads.' I suppose I'll have to just keep everyone locked up in their respective buildings for a day or so. Has any had an experience, in this regard? The days egg count of course was down, but I suppose that is to be expected.

On a brighter note, I am wondering if someone can help me identify the make and model of this fine fellow? He is a fine little Banty rooster, and I believe him to be in the OEGB family. But his type, I can not decide. He showed up in one of the two shipments of banty chicks I got last July. He has a mate, a fine speckled hen, which seems to be of the same breed type. But as they showed up as extras, or as the fabled mystery chicks, I do not know what they are. I have looked at the catalog, online and print, of both hatcheries, and do not see a bird of this type in either of them. So… I hope someone here with more experience in all of this can help me and the DW out with a proper bred name.

We call him Gravel and his little hen Pebbles, nice looking birds, I might try some more, if I knew what they are.

I am loooooving these three chicks. And I may need some help from my cache valley friends. I may have, um, how do I say this, accidentally, um, have won another 10 speckled Sussex eggs. And. Um, someone is using my incubator now. I may be able to borrow a friends Brinsea mini, but I'll still have a few eggs that won't fit. Could anyone help me incubate a few shipped eggs?

ETA: my wife is going to kill me!

Just holler when they come, I have both bators completely filled with two hatches (some eggs stacked lol) but its because I have so many clears, I am still figuring out who my rooster is fooling around with. I know I will toss lots of clears by Saturday, then I have 18 more super fun shipped FBCM eggs arriving the beginning of week, but I am anticipating I will have more than enough room after I candle this weekend. I would love to help if they fit for sure.
