Utah!

Do any of you have any idea on sex of these chicks? They are both just over 2 weeks old. The top one is a white leghorn, and the bottom is an Easter Egger.

Thank you so much in advance. Sorry the leghorn pictures weren't that great. Darn chick wouldn't stop moving around! Didn't help the dog kept trying to smell it scaring the poor chick.

I already have a zipper and a third pip. Good grief, these chicks are really going at it!

Lizard, I would guess that your EE is almost certainly a girl. The Leghorn may be a girl, but I'm not as familiar with how they feather out. Cynthia could probably offer a better opinion.

Congrats red!

Lisa, yes on the Houdan girl, and sorry for your unsuccessful breeding plans... The houdans mentality reminds me of the dodos from ice age. It seems like they are dying to go instinct!!!!

With that said, I will definitely take another pullet.

I love TSC  We had one around the cornor from us in mesa.

They just put in a TSC out here in Stansbury. And by the way, welcome home!

I am curious about something. I've been turning my eggs in the incubator about 5 times a day. My question is can you turn eggs too much or is it better to turn them more often?

I've heard that you CAN turn them too much. I turn mine 3-4 times a day, and they're fine.

Silly, so, so sorry about your pup. It sounds like you did everything you could for him and the ultimate choice was probably a mercy for him. We had some neighbors with a nasty retriever when I was a kid. Their dog got out one day and mauled our dachshund in our yard, then came after me. Thankfully my dad was outside, too, so he ran the dog off. When they are mentally ill, there's only so much you can do.

I haven't been on here for about a week. My wife and I left for San Diego on Tuesday just before the storm and get back today. So funny that we missed the snow altogether!

I have two pips!

Many people think their leghorns are roos because they have such big combs. Both sexes have huge combs Just an FYI

Hey Rural, do you still need turkey eggs? Probably not, but I thought I'd check. My boy is doing the deed and I have some eggs.

Speaking of turkeys, one of my hens squatted for DH today. He says she wouldn't budge and he had to pick her up and move her. I went outside to check for eggs and she came over and squatted for me, too. That girl wants babies! How long do you think it is before I have a broody?

It was such a nice day here the lovely DW took this picture for me to share. The blossoms are coming along nicely, well for Cache Valley anyway. Red good to hear good news from your place, you deserve better luck. Did Rural post… I've not seen her for a bit.

Hoping everyone had a nice day,

RJ
