It was such a nice day here the lovely DW took this picture for me to share. The blossoms are coming along nicely, well for Cache Valley anyway. Red good to hear good news from your place, you deserve better luck. Did Rural post… I've not seen her for a bit.

Hoping everyone had a nice day,

RJ

This, could be a Calender Photo..just beautiful!

You always post such pretty pics! That tree is beautiful. Is it a weeping cherry?

Thank you guys for the kind words on the days photograph, and the DW says that she believes the tree in question is indeed a weeping cherry tree. I am indeed fortunate to have an avid photographer for a spouse. She makes me look good… in more ways than one.

Best to all and your birds,

RJ

red congrats on the pips! so happy for you.

been needing to try tsc, i hear they have the big bags of grit and for a much better deal than the small bags you see at ifa and cal ranch.

i think one of my older girls is trying to crow, it was not loud but was a new sound. hope she knocks it off because she is my favorite

Brad, Red now has a chick! Maybe two by now. :D Yip!

I bought my first big bag of grit at Home Depot. But, just bought a smaller bag at TSC. :)

Hope that chicken stops making those funny sounds!

I have four babies out but no more pips yet. I just helped two that were shrink wrapped, and all four have had some kind of goop in the eggs. I kept the humidity in the 20's-30's range all through incubation, usually in the 30's. What is this? Yuck.

My humidity is reading in the 60's, but I think I may try to bump it up a little if they are shrink wrapping. The last thing I want is to go to work and come back to find a chick that passed because they were stuck.

Birdman, tell your girl that's not okay! Crazy bird.

Hey Rural, do you still need turkey eggs? Probably not, but I thought I'd check. My boy is doing the deed and I have some eggs.

Speaking of turkeys, one of my hens squatted for DH today. He says she wouldn't budge and he had to pick her up and move her. I went outside to check for eggs and she came over and squatted for me, too. That girl wants babies! How long do you think it is before I have a broody?
Baaaaah I want turkeys so bad and that sounds so cute! I bet you have a broody in a month lol. Good luck

I've had issues with the goopy too. I think it happens when the humidity is too low. I had one hatch out at 60% and was completely crusty. But after she hatched she brought the humidity up so much none of the others had it. I had it happen again just barely but not as bad and the humidity as at 65%. I always try for 70% or higher but it's hard in our dry environment. Happy to hear you have some already and good luck on the others. Sending good vibes your way. "happy healthy chicks, happy healthy chicks!" :)

Thanks Sambi :) How come you can't have turkeys? City? I had them in the city when I was at my mom's house, and they tended to roam and get in people's yards. Our neighbors were really good about it, though, so they would let us know there was a problem instead of just calling Animal Control. But yeah, turkeys are not for cities :/

Still no new pips, but it's only day 20. My little fuzzballs are so cute and teensy, they almost look like bantams :)

Cynthia I keep forgetting to say that I love your picture of Missy looking at that little chick. She has such a sweet face.

Do you folks know of anyone in Utah with Foley line Blue Laced Red Wyandottes? Or some really nice looking BLR's if not Foley line?
