Utah!

The first five look good.  It's hard to tell by photos.  See how light the air sacs are showing up on those first 5?  You can go by that pretty much on the others, having said that, by day 7 I can pretty much tell if they aren't good, but sometimes, if it's questionable I wait the suggested day 10 to toss.  You will know for sure by then.
The one air sac that you are worried about, I've had worse looking ones..up higher, and hatch.  :)

Thanks, Cynthia! :)

Where does IFA get there chicks from, does anyone know? I bought a scicillian buttercup and a wellsummer (among many others) from the Preston IFA. Also got a welsummer rooster they were selling as a pullet. Just interested to know what the stock is like. One time I asked them where they get their chicks and he said somewhere probably about 100 miles from here.
My local IFA gets them from McMurray Hatchery. I should say they get some from there. I was getting my chicks from the riverton PO when an IFA employee was getting a few peeping boxes from McMurray.

I've been wondering how good of a selection the Preston IFA had. The IFAs in Hyde Park and Logan don't have much and their chicks haven't looked good so I try to stay away. Sounds like Preston might be a better bet for me since its closer to me than Ogden.

Went into Cal Ranch today..of course had to look at chicks. Last day for chicks they say. Had the wrong breed names on some. A lady packed up a SLW. When I asked what she got and that was included, I asked, oh, where are those, I didn't see them. Went to look, they were meat birds! I told them, that that one will be ready to eat in a few weeks. They got the gal that helped them. She say, oh, I wondered why they looked so much bigger than their age.

I see this all the time at Cal ranch. At one IFA they wouldn't even guess what was what. At least they were honest.

Anyone here get their feed from Leland Milling Company in Spanish Fork? It's about half the price, fresh made each week, and "all natural". I'm raising my chicks on it now, but I wondered if anyone has experience with it. Is it going to be my best option when the gals start laying eggs?

I believe that is where Cynthia gets hers, and has said how much she loves it. I wish we had one of those around here! We have a Walton Feed that sells it for $10 / 50# bags, but the pellets are big...They are only open on weekdays so I can never get out there.

The funny thing is, they get their grain from Idaho near you! I need to get a new pic of that Marans roo. he's growing up nicely and is my daughters favorite. My kids have name him Capt K'nuckles.

Wait..did you get your eggs from Brian??   lol..if so, that is the mix I have that went into lock down this morning.   I have a RIR in there with his Faverolle roo as dad.  I have two huge Leghorn eggs in there with that one as the dad..man, still a lot of room in those eggs, hope they do ok, I don't think they will hatch until day 22!
Congratulations!  Several pretty blue/green eggs, and one that is a robin egg blue..hope that one hatches out a girl..of course!

Yes, i got his eggs just before you i guess lol! I'm sad because both of my pretty Robin egg blue eggs were my infertile ones :(

That's the only place I will buy it. 100 lbs. for 20 bucks! My chickens love it over the pellets. I will buy pellets every now and again, give it to them for different feed, but they love that feed from Leland Mills. We take a garbage can that I bought just for it.

Here's my setup in the shed.
