Utah!

oh. Okay. Thank you so much! If I am ever able to get one, I will keep that in mind.
Are you closer to SLC Lizarddandchicks? Correct me if I'm wrong Lisa, but Logan is a lot colder for a lot longer periods of time than it is in the valley so you would probably be fine with them.

I went up to Logan a couple weeks ago and now I want to move there.

New to BYC (may 2015) and to having chickens. Excited there is a Utah group! I currently have 1 Ameraucana Roo (12 weeks old) (I think he is actually an EE though. Bought him from Cal Ranch store supposed to be an Ameraucana), 1 Silver Laced Wyandotte (16 weeks old), 2 Speckled Sussex (13 weeks old), 2 Ameraucanas (12 week old and 16 week old)(also think they are actually EE's aslo bought from Cal Ranch), and 1 Black Australorp (12 weeks old). I am currently building a bigger coop for the chickens originally ordered one online but now need a bigger coop (for some reason you plan on maybe having two chickens, but end up getting more since there quite fun to have). Here are pics of my current setup and crew. Excited to learn from everyone!

Cool setup, great pics, and beautiful flock.

And to the Utah thread.

I love my Wyandottes.

kids..love your set up and flock! You can have roosters..I'm trying a rooster collar right now for one of mine. It is actually working pretty good. I bring him in at night, let him out to do his funny crow later in the morning so as not to bother neighbors.

I don't think I am aloud to have a rooster where I am. Was looking at ordering the collar for him just in case, but also wonder how he is going to do around my kids as he gets bigger, the roo is really skittish around everyone. I originally started out with 12 chicks (4 EE's, 2 SLW's, 2 Plymouth Barred Rocks, 2 Speckled Sussex, 2 Black Australorps), but 5 of them were roosters (2 EE's, 1 SLW, and 2 Barred Rocks) I have happily been able to find them all good homes. I currently have a neighbor that has a rooster and no one has seemed to care. So hoping it works out and will probably get some more chickens once I finish the coop.

sideWing - my SLW is my favorite of the bunch. she has been such a great bird from day one has come right up to me, likes to be held, sweet and social hen. have plans to get a couple more slw's and a couple barred rocks.

Love that you shared all those pictures! Cute cute new girls you have and I love the way you utilized the corner in your yard. Welcome!

You have it right! We get more windy cold spells, the flowers are always dead here before yours and I think we run 5-10 degrees less than SLC pretty much year round with a few exceptions.
Buuuut it is so purdy, we put up with it. Lots of good recreation, that is what we are all about in my family. Any birds that can survive this should be just fine down your way for sure!
