Utah!

Nope. She doesn't

I am loving the thaw....finally all the frozen turds thawed out so I could shovel my coop out today without chiseling the frozen turds off of everything. Woohoo! Never thought mushy poo would make me so happy. Nice clean coops. Yay. I have to do it every 5-6 days in the winter but had to go way too long because it was below freezing for so many days.

Now, of course if is pouring snow and freezing again

Now that I'm on my computer, I can confirm it. At least some of the pictures are form Meyer Hatchery. I though they looked familiar.

So now we are above freezing again and all that snow last night is melting into the run from the sides. Nice. Mud. Hole.
My run small run is a muddy mess as well. For the winter, I've made it so the flock has my entire garden as a run. They haven't used it since the snow hit, so maybe now they will range out through the rest of the space they have.

I've got a sick chicken in the garage now. She's not eating well and has diarrhea. She was, however, more than willing to eat some mealworms I bought to see how sick she was. I'm not quite sure what to do besides feed her egg, yogurt, and mash. I'm wondering if with the melt she ate something weird.

She was molting and is finally getting her feathers back, so I'm bummed she's sick.

Ugh, I was all for the snow going away at first, but now... This is just awful.
Our 6 birds have somehow turned their entire area (a sectioned off part of the yard about 20ftx20ft) into a mud pit. At the first sight of the grass beneath the snow they were digging and pecking through everything until it was all mud.
I'm going to have to section off the area when the true thaw takes hold so we can actually get some grass growing again. They'll just have to deal with less space for a week or two, then they can mow down the lawn again.

Cocci? Awfully cold but I dont know what its cold tolerance is but know it likes mud and we have plenty right now.

I'd wondered about that, but I've been finishing off the medicated chick feed I have by mixing it into everybody's mash, so that makes me think it's less likely. She's an almost 2 year old barred rock.

Well, my rooster Bubba has found his voice!

I knew he would start crowing like a normal rooster. I need to sell him, only 10 dollars, I don't want him to go to the chicken pot! He is a pure Heritage RIR. He is very gentle with the girls. He is doing his dance for them now to pre warn them..lol..and..he no longer runs off with the treats, he will peck at it and call the girls over. He is such a gentleman. Beautiful boy now, going to get more beautiful! Only coming up on 8 months. He is fertilizing eggs..so glad I have some in the bator from him. This guy needs to make more babies.

He has that dark maroon heritage sheen. And..there is a gal that I know that will be heading to Logan to see Lisa soon, and has offered to take him north for me if there is anyone up that way that wants him.
