Hey, fellow Utah dweller here... do you all use sand or "deep litter" in your runs? I have sand that I scoop every other day at most, but it still is starting to get funky with the heat. Wondering what you all use in our climate. My girls do not free range, and I want to do good by them, and our neighbors!

I don't have chickens anymore, but when I did, I used shavings. Not the pine of course. It was quite easy to clean up and there wasn't much of a smell. I literally had ..back yard chickens. No one ever complained about a smell.

My husband tells me I just have an over sensitive nose and he can't smell it, so maybe I'm overthinking I might try shavings in the coop over winter, but so far have enjoyed pdz in there. I'm in Magna!
