and welcome to the Utah thread!

Today I went for a walk and noticed another neighbor less than a block away with chickens in their back yard!!

They were so pretty and had an AWESOME coop. That makes four of us in a block radius that I know of.

As I've been looking at real estate (to buy), I have been surprised at how many potential neighbors have chickens in the backyard, right in the city.

I would say that about 1/4 of the 20-25 properties I've looked at have had neighbor chickens.

You joined! It's good to see you on here. There are actually a bunch of Little Cottonwood Canyon employees (or ex-employees on here). I can't wait to see some pictures next week!

Thanks for letting me know about the forum and thread.

I'll have coop photo's for you on tuesday. we've come a long way on the coop and are close to painting. just have to decide on which way the external nest boxes will open and if there will be a loft in the coop. but i'm sure the pics you're talking about are of the chicks coming in on friday. We ordered 16 chicks and plan to keep six, so if anyone wants some we'll have about 10 extras at $4 each. 2 easter eggers, 1 plymouth barred rock, 1 black australorps, 1 speckled sussex, 2 gold comet/red star, 1 silver and 1 gold laced wyandotte. They are all vaccinated for merek's, all sexed as females by mt. healthy hatchery.

I'm sure you already know, but if no one on here is interested in the 10 for sale, KSL classifieds are a good place to sell chicks. What are the other ones going to be? I really miss our SLW (she's the one that choked and died).

And yeah, I was talking about the chick pictures, however, I'd love to see the finished coop pictures as well. I think it's funny that both our coops were once goat pens. Good luck with the wyandottes... they are the only ones we've had that go broody, one repeatedly... and they are the only hens who like to bite me.

those listed are the extras. they require an order of 15 or more. we're keeping about 6 or seven for now and will downsize a little as needed for noise or production levels. if you'd like another you can have the slw for free, or any of the others for that matter. that slw will need a buddy, right?

That's very tempting. I'll see if I can convince someone, however I've been pushing my luck with critters lately. I do miss our SLW and I'm a sucker for EEs and their tufts.

Just to let you know, the whole group of you are trouble. Sticco's been trying to pawn kittens off on us for the last two years. I tell him, I'm fine, but he's got to convince someone else.
