A Utah thread! I'm here from Orem, smack-dab in the middle of Happy Valley

We have recently gotten an ordinance passed that allows us to have up to 6 chickens for eggs only (no roosters, thankfully) so we took advantage of this opportunity. We got our little girls this last Friday and the whole household is transfixed - and hooked! We are so excited to be on this new and exciting adventure with the kids!

We have 2 Americaunas, one each of the Barred Rock, Rhode Island, Orpington, Australorp, and a Party Pack mutt. Their names are Lucy, Penny, Jimmer, Obi, Hop, Ani, and Chickadee - Star Wars and BYU Basketball referances aside, they are sweet little ladies!

My sister is in Mapleton and they just inherited full-grown chickens and some friends of ours up in West Jordon got their chicks the day before we did! It's a community adventure!

Happy to be here, for sure!

I am a proud new duck momma! Little ducklings arrived safe and sound this morning! (They're supposed to be for my twin boys, but I think we all know who's REALLY behind it!)

2 black runners (Jasper and Piper) and 2 fawn-and-white runners (Sweeney and Mrs. Lovett). Fawns were supposed to be white, so my 7-yr-old, white-duck-loving son is bummed.

Guess we'll have to add another pair. Oh, darn. Anyone know where I can get sexed white runners?

Anyone interested in getting one (or two) bantam cochin roosters (about 6 weeks old)? I'll be re-homing them in the next few weeks and figured I'd ask here first. I have a white or splash and a blue.

I have a few white capped black polish I am still waiting for gender to appear but one is sure feisty for a pullet, probably a roo.

j, I'm so sorry about your buff silkie.

That is so sad.

oooh, I want to go to the show in Farmington soooooo bad. My kids really want to go to the gem fair instead. We may have to have a battle of wills to see who wins.

Oooh! I just found this thread--how exciting! I'm in Bountiful, though my chickens will be housed in West Bountiful, since Bountiful is evidently anti-chicken.

We've been hatching out some EE's and have a few Welsummers--beautiful birds! Anyway, I didn't expect so many of my EE's to hatch, since it was the first time I've done incubating. They started hatching yesterday and we are now up to 10 with another 7 sitting in the incubator waiting their turn. If anyone would like some cute little EE's or a couple of Welsummers (the Welsummers are about 6 weeks old), please let me know--we would love them to go to good homes.

Thank you.

Let's see.... Rocks, chickens, rocks, chickens.... I wouldn't use rock paper chickens, you'd lose. I'd use "I'm the grownup and because I said so".

and "they have food there!"

I wish I could go but we can't get away. That's the only place we know that has quail antwerps and we'd love to see some show ones.

I would LOVE some. I am in Orem area though, could we meet in the middle? My main flock is EE, but I have Black Copper Marans, Golden Cuckoo Marans, and Light Sussex too. Welsummer has been on my list! :) I ordered some but they wont be here until May. :-(
PM me and let me know!

Shelley
