Utah!

Hi you guys! It's been a good few months since I've stopped in. Wish I had more time to keep up around here

So we have two roosters that I'm looking to find homes for. One is a mottled cochin bantam named Mr. Muffin and the other is a light brahma named Alaska. The bantam was a chick we bought this past spring, but we bought the brahma after being told he was a she so I'm pretty bummed to have to find HIM a home

He is incredibly docile & sweet & doesn't crow very loud. His hatch date was May 1st. Our cochin rooster can be a bit fiesty UNTIL you show him who's boss then he's very sweet & has the funniest personality. I love how he struts lol I have a picture of my 5 yr old son holding him. Both roosters were raised by us, our 7 & our dog lol they are very used other animals & kids.

Here are a few pictures - if anyone here is interested PM me

I know this doesn't help, but I have to say....man, I wish I could have roosters! I have a mottled hen that looks like your handsome Mr. Muffin! Shoot. I would love to move somewhere with land, and rights to roosters. I am loving the stories I read about..the nice...roosters.

A rooster that leads his ladies to treats, or food..a rooster that breaks up fights? A rooster that leads his ladies to a safe area if he sees, or senses danger? How fun would that be to watch?

Just have to add a picture of my mottled girl...Baily...

She's a cute!! The roos are gorgeous too. But having a heart AND roos does have it's downside. LOTS and LOUD alarm clocks!! We get it in surround-sound. Mr. Sweet (the little black silkie) was doing fine but then one afternoon got his comb pecked bloody (by the hens) so he's been re-cooping (ha ha) in our kitchen for the last two days. Today he'll go back out to the ladies but safe in a big dog kennel.

I now have to figure out what to do with the Rangers (the free rangers) when cold hits. They are going to hate being locked up with no ladies in sight. They'll be a bugger to round up and once in they'll be hunkered down until spring, they will be

. AND I'll be feeding and checking water, cleaning, etc. on birds that don't lay.

hmmm that reminds me that i am related to mitt romney so maybe i should try to get in touch with him and see if he would help a poor guy out

my brother has a friend he works with at walmart doing the tires and oil who as a kid struck oil in their back yard so they sold it for millions, so he took his share and invested in things like netflix before they got big and made even more money, owns several apartment complexes and just keeps adding to his wealth. its funny because he works at walmart just to have something to do and he does not have fancy cloths and he does not drive a fancy car to work but has more money than he knows what to do with. he is an amazing guy who loves to help people out and when my brother got married this year this guy payed for most his honeymoon as a gift. i know this may be hard to believe but i swear it is true

Ok, so not too sure about Mitt Romney. He is needing money him self for the campaign!

Wow, I believe that your brother's friend is doing just that. There are some out there. Way to go, he's living "in the world" not "of the world." That's great! He knows what this here living is all about.

Hey you guys! I just wanted to say hello to my fellow Utah chicken peeps!
smile.png
i'm pretty new here, and learning so much along the way. We just got chickens about 2 months ago and have been through quite a lot already with them. We live in the Sugarhouse area so we have a smallish backyard but the 'girls' have taken over and we love hearing them root around all day! We've also become accustomed to checking our feet for chicken poo when we come inside:p Anyway, it's fun to see that there is an active crowd on here from Utah!!

ps. anyone know of a local hatchery?? Just curious, I can't seem to find anything online....

I have 6 lively Silver Laced Wyondottes that are due to hatch next Wed. Now I need to find a good home for them, because I am up for some surgery, have been waiting for a long time.
I get a call today and they said that the dr. wants me in for a fusion on my neck this Wed. Oh dear. Hoping my DH can handle what I write down for him. I will get a call in the morning to get an appt. to see this dr. on Tues. I've been talking, and saw, his PN. He is great. This pain has been going on since the end of July! I've had several tests, and the dr. finally saw my MRI.
Anyway, I also have a few barnyard mixes in the bator with the SLW. The dad is the one of the most gorgeous, huge, buffs I've ever seen. And he's nice! The hens are Red sex links, black sex link, and an EE. I have one colored egg.
smile.png
I think there are other hens, can't remember what they are. Only 5 of those eggs. So, not sure what you are looking for, but they will come at a good price. You should see the parents of the SLW! Heritage birds..this small little farm has been breeding them for a long time. Beautiful..not like the hatcheries we get from around here. They came from MI.
P.M. me if you are interested. I am in Spanish Fork, but my husband could meet you somewhere if you are interested. I could post pictures of the babies when hatched next week.

I'm wondering if anyone else is having chickens react to the sudden cold/rain we had last week. About fourth of mine are sneezing since the cold, but don't seem ill. I put heat lamp on one night when it was so wet because they were still wet from the rain when they went into the coop for the night.

This is my first season with chickens and I'm trying to figure it out.
