Utah!

Hey I am in Kaysville and need to get rid of a rooster and some laying hens if anyone close wants to come and get them today. 8015298328

We had a pretty good wind, but it sounds like you guys got the micro burst winds. We've had those here, and had neighbors pine trees fall. In fact my hubby went down the street last summer to help with cutting one up, it ended up in the street, which is better than on his house..this tree stood right up against the house. Huge.
Plus, their were shingle from peoples houses everywhere. Didn't see any of that this morning. There is still a light wind going on, but that's Spanish Fork. We have wind in the mornings until 10 or 11 if we have it. Hopefully it won't be windy all day, it could be a nice day out..but I went ahead and put my black EE "girl" out this morning with the little lavenders.
I'm still keeping my fingers crossed for my bigger EE then. Caught her this morning while she was in the crowd with the others going for some bread. Snatched her up, and you would have thought that she thought, she was going to the butcher block. That poor thing is so afraid of people right now. Hope that gets better. I didn't see a three row pea comb area, and I am thinking she should be old enough for that by now..going on 11 weeks.

HAPPY NEW YEAR YEAR TO YOU ALL!

the wind was blowing hard here in west jordan for sure. my coop is fairly protected and i went a little overboard when i tarped of my run so it handles strong wind well. months ago i tied up everything on the patio with baleing twine so all is well. well happy new year everyone and be safe. i have had so much fun talking to all of you and its been a bright time in my life. thank you all for everything

Which IFA is the best to get chicks from? I'm still in a quandary about where to get chicks in Utah, I don't want straight run because i cannot have a rooster and I don't want to go through raising one only to find out it's a roo. Which I know can happen with a pullet only order, but the chances are a lot lower. So now I've read here that Arlene is PG has tons and tons of chicks and maybe not the best conditions, IFA's aren't great, is there anywhere good to buy from? LOL

I would highly suggest you go with IFA over a lady from Pleasant Grove. I know many folks that have gotten some from her, and they have actually had them die. The chances are just as high going with her to get a roo as with any place. She gets them as pullets from hatcheries.
Not sure how many chickens you want, but you will do fine going with Cal Ranch or IFA. Personally, after seeing chicks from IFA and Cal Ranch, I see better conditions in Cal Ranch. Also, there is a place in Payson...wonderful place! They baby their babies. I do believe the name of that place is The Broken Spoke..a block west of Payson hospital. They get their chicks in the early spring. Hope this helps.

I second the motion to get chicks from CAL-Ranch. They have healthy chicks in good clean conditions. Never had any problems with chicks from them. They usually have a pretty good variety and I know they try to bring in cold hardy chicks for our cold northern climate.
