Utah!

Pictures later, I am letting them settle down. Did lose a few..always sad when you order. Those little Auraconas are funny "little" ones.
What's fun are the White Orpingtons now. They look like the lemon/blue color of the cochins. They will be all white though.
I know what my white chicken is! It's an Ameraucana, unless it's feet get some green in them..then it's an EE. Very pretty.
The NH are pretty, different shades of red through them, hmmm. One is quite pretty, more white with a shade of red in it..maybe that's my mystery chick? I don' know yet. I think I can tell the sussex apart from my brown leghorns..there's just so much chipmunk stripes going on in there. There are a couple of other puffy cheeks, not sure if they are supposed to be Auracanas or Ameraucanas..I'm not sure how McMurry does their "canas". lol..
I have to go lay down. My neck needs a rest. I've been leaning over and watching them all morning!

I'll buy the little white EE if you don't want it. I think it should still work size wise with the lav chicks. I'm so excited for them!!

Oh Cynthia, they are so cute!!! I love how you have that sticky shelf liner on top of the shavings. I did a towel the first day or so, but I like your idea a lot. I had that UNDER the shavings, but I think I may put it over.

I am happy my BLRW chicks will be hatching soon- my chicks have gone and gotten all gawky and ugly on me. :(

OH, totally cute overload!!!!! I want some SO bad. Think I'll go pull my McMurray catalog. I've got the DH talked into meat birds.

I'm curious, from "lockdown" till peeps, how long? and why do you put them in lockdown, for optimum health reasons? You can tell I've never hatched and you guys on here are making me start looking at the incubator ads, but I just can't go that route. I'm scared. Scared I'll never stop buying eggs! I'll be a chick hoarder or maybe I'm already there.

Are you ready for Last pic..I promise.. I can see a Sussex right there with the red tipped nose, again a Silver Laced by the feeder, NH's in the middle, orange colored, and the white Ameraucana, and the other puffy cheek, yellow, you can really see the puffs on those two in this picture. The Auraconas seem to be tuffltess. Not sure about the rumpless, but they already look like they could be rumpless. Oh, and a brown leghorn is next to the sussex. Two Orpingtons on top of pic. to the right.

I totally missed the shelf liner staring at the fluffbutts - what a great idea! I just think I may do that myelf.

Hi Cynthia, This is Utah Chicken Dad's wife......these pictures are soooo cute. I am also excited about us getting chicks..can't wait for Feb 20 when IFA says they will have them in. They keep changing the date. Oh well, it will happen when it does. But these pictures don't help the the "want chicks" feeling! Thanks for posting. Utah Chicken Mom!

Oh, I am more than happy to give anyone the fix needed here..baby chicks will be coming intto the stores before you know it.

birdman, I won't be taking the buff from Chiko..I have some buff Orpington eggs that will be hatching in a few weeks. I just thought I would offer a place for her if no one wanted it..I have so many chicks now, to go, eeny, meeny miny moe..as to what I want to keep. If you want a nice girl that will start laying soon, she would be a good one. She was last years late spring hatch. I've seen her since chiko took her, she is healthy..so go for it. A nice bird. Can't go wrong with Orpingtons. :)) I now also have these white Orpingtons that I got today. Need to place a few of those. Or a couple..all girls.
All my chicks are girls if anyone is wondering. Pullets.

I love knowing they are girls. The New Hampshires sure are cute fluffy little orange balls. They mature early, lay at, or before the 20th week~when they say chickens should start to lay. EE's are usually a little later, 6 or 7 months. But these are here now, and should be laying before fall. White Orpintons, should lay 20 to 24 weeks. Speckled Sussex, also around the same time as Orpingtons.
