Utah!

Yeah, naughty chickens hatched while I was asleep, so I only have been able to see Sappphire (the one who just barely hatched) come out.

I'm thinking I may help Beryl out once I get the kids to school. She's been pipped almost 24 hours and no real progress.  This is the one that pipped to the floor, so I'm a little worried.

I noticed Sapphire rolled Beryl even more to the floor, might be a little tough for her to figure that one out on her own....this has been so much fun to watch, and my son said "Hey that's the house we were at!" so it is more fun for him after having met you and your chickens! I have my preschoolers watching this now, so they will get a kick out of seeing the last one. Hoping she is ok and it all works out well :)

Yeah, it's been over 24 hours, and no real progress has been made, so I'm going to go zip a bit for her.

They are really pretty, I'm surprised at the color. To think that they will get lacing.

Shinx is an expert now. She knows how to help those babies when needed. So all five will have hatched after you help this last one? Going back to the cam. :)

Off to the eye dr. Soo excited to go. I have needed a new prescription for a long time. I've been squinting at people and other things for too long now. lol...Still have to wait for them to get done, but at least we are getting this part done today. Eye exam.

Yay chickies! Good hatch Sphinx, did you get them all? They are adorable! I wondered if they would be bluish or orangeish, Look like the red/orange comes later. You have any guesses on gender? I was looking at those little wing feathers again today on mine, I just cannot tell for certain, only time will tell :) Love the names!

Edit--I just saw you move the cam back to the egg---I guess one more....is it bleeding? It looks like on the shell...hope its ok!

Cynthia, good luck at the doc :) I need to get that done too....keep putting it off.

I love rope lights! We put some on the outside a few weeks ago to scare predators off at night....never thought about putting them inside, great idea! Gonna use that one too

i am happy you like it

i like how they take very little energy and they are super bright and they do not give off heat.

I picked quite a bit of shell off of Beryl, but when I tried to mess with the membrane, I got a drop of blood, even though it's all papery. I was a little surprised, but I immediately quit and stuck it back in the incubator. I am a little worried that it may have a slight cross beak. Unless they sometimes don't have it match up quite right. Sometimes when it pokes through, it looks fine, but not others.

Maybe I'll put the camera back on the eggs for you to see.

Scary! At least we can still see her moving though, she is alive, that is good :D C'mon little one, you can do it! :fl So if the GLW hatch black with orange spots on their head, it would make sense the BLRW hatch blue with orange/red spots. The lacing color is the main color they are born with? Very interesting to watch all these chicks, I am learning so much from you guys! I love this thread :D :D

-sigh- chick STILL hasn't hatch. Been pipped for well over 24 hours.

I don't dare mess with her anymore though, since I got blood that one time. Not a lot of blood, only a drop or so, but still!

She's still moving around in there.

Whew, popped in in time to see the last chick peeping in her egg. She seems tired to me. But I just saw her kick good, so that's a good sign, right? The two I saw last night weren't even in their eggs for half an hour after they started kicking like that.

Hi Utah neighbors. Hope you don't mind my popping onto your thread to ask a question. Why aren't there any ads on ksl for ducklings and rarely for adults? The same can be said for geese too, although I realize goslings are only just now becoming available in other parts of the country.

Thanks!
