Utah!

Red-That is my man :) With the bird on his head lol! That one is "Violet" our sweetest lovingest chicken. If a chicken could feel the emotion "love"---that is the chicken that feels it. I will keep her forever, past laying, until her day comes, I could not part with her. Glad you enjoyed the pics, I need to update with some of these new chickies!

Cynthia--good to talk to you this morning. Look forward to seeing you this weekend, will see what happens with the eggs! Crossing fingers for good luck :fl

so in a little bit i will go battle with steve reagan. i hope they give it to me for the low price. my step grandpa is middle eastern so growing up i have had the culture built into me and a part of that is haggleing, i will haggle on the price at almost any store. i am not as bad as my step grandpa, he will haggle at a fast food place lol. but i am very good at it. i feel i have been a loyal customer that has brought them business. a very important part of business is word of mouth and as you all know i do a lot of talking about business and i can say good things or bad things. wish me luck! oh and i am so jellous of all of you getting more chickens. i want another chicken

Here's what I've gotten from my girls so far today. Actually, I got two white eggs, my little Baily also laid already, so that would be six eggs. All of them laid.

Just wanted to see if I could get the color of my blue Ameraucana's egg to show up. Not real well. It isn't real blue blue, but in real life, it looks more blue than here. Does have a hint of green in it though.

Lisa, good talking to you too. You made me remember today is Thursday, not Fri. lol.. So, I won't be seeing any pips until tomorrow for the others. They are due to hatch on Sat.

Where is Wendy? Are you ok? Haven't heard from you in a while. Are you still thinking that those two are boys?? Let me know.
Left egg, Buff Orpington, next one is my little Red the Sex Link, then the Ameraucana, then a leghorn. Not sure which one, I have a white and a brown leghorn. Nice sized eggs!

So birdman, get another chicken, or chick! Lisa said she would pick up a chick for anyone. I have Australorps, one of your best layers. You need two. And you wouldn't even have to haggle with me, because my price is already good. :))
Where do you live?

Ok birdman, so, how about a deal..buy one, get one free. :) I actually have some buff orpingtons that will go into lock down next Mon. I like the diversity. Good layers, and some fun colored birds.
The Buff's are very nice. I have a laying hen. She will make noise...before she goes to lay. Have had a few birds that do that..kind of funny, then no egg song after..?
Australorps are good too. I'm finding the noisy birds are the leghorns and some bantams. The brown leghorn goes around talking away while I am in the run, and also my cochin. Oh..my red sex link! She will make noise when she has decided that she has had enough of the run. She wants out! Makes noise and watches my back door, waiting for me to come to her every call. She has settled down since she has been in there for a while now since it has snowed. I had a black sex link that was noisy too..talked allll the time.
Forgot to say, I have a pullet barred rock..she is quiet so far. She should start laying anytime now. She sounded like a duck there for a while when her voice was changing. I've had the barred rocks before..wonderful.

How did the haggling go, bird-man? And I'm agreeing with what Cynthia said: Black Sex-Link's can be chatty, though I haven't ever been around when mine has laid an egg, so I don't know if she sings or not. She's super shy. I also have a Barred Rock pullet that is pretty quiet. Now and then I'll hear a little muttering from her while she's foraging, and she'll mutter louder if she's waiting in line for the nesting box. Other than that, she's nearly mute. (Good temperament, too. Stuck my hand in the box to get the eggs without realizing that she was in there, doing her thing. She didn't fuss or anything, just kind of looked at me like, "Um, pardon me. Occupied.")

Hi Guys....got my permit today! So I am legal. Need to stay out of IFA for a while. I came home with a gold sex link! She was in the original batch IFA got so she's the same age as the other ones. They are too dang cute! And it is amazing how fast they start having feathers. The chipmonk has the prettiest feathers so far. And even some tail feathers showing up....and they are only a week old. Wow. Happy chicken dad!

Sorry, I've been reading, but been very busy so I haven't had time to respond. I am a realtor, and am trying to get my required continuing education requirements done, so I've been busy with that. Plus I told the junior high I'd do pictures from a dance. So, crazy week all around.

Congrats on the permit, ChickenDad!!

Cynthia, sorry that you didn't get such a good hatch. Are you using the dry hatch method of incubation? I wonder if maybe you'd get better success that way?

Birdman, how did the battle go over the DE?

Sorry, I know nothing about colds- my chickens have never gotten sick (knock wood!), so I haven't had to deal with illness at all.
