Utah!

Red---so glad you found it and were able to fix her up before she got really ill!
UCM---LOVE the names, how fun! What a good idea too with the temp monitor. WHen I saw it the first thing I wondered if it was some sort of air freshener haha :)
Cynthia, I am going out to get a pic of Laverne and Shirley. Will post shortly. Sure are getting pretty! Still no names for those babies, working on it :)

Cynthia---updated photos on your/my/our girls :) LaVerne: See the white frosty tips? Also, bigger muffs, smaller pupils.

Then there is Shirley. Bigger Pupils! Pretty Eyes....muffs not as big. There are teensy white specks starting under her chin, but little...

My pretty girls from Cynthia :) !!!

Whoa Lisa, those girls certainly are pretty! Laverne's speckles are very unique, very cute.

Okay, I have decided - I must have an Araucana girl in my flock at some point (even if I'm 80 by the time I get her)

Utahchickenmom...I like that..yes, get yourself a picture..avatar..and go for it. We would love talking with both of you.
hmm, my chicks will scratch at one area if some food had been dropped in that area..like near the food dish. They scratch and scratch right there. If they ever get down to where the newspaper is underneath the corners, they will scratch and scratch and scratch at that. I wonder if there is "spot" of something stuck down there that they can see. If one goes after something, then they are all right there for it! lol..

Brad, I have no idea how many chicks I've hatched. I just hatch! I love to hatch those little fuzzy butts. They are so fun to watch. Guess what? I was wrong on my lock down day for the BO. Thought it was tomorrow, but it's today. Imagine that, me, forgetting! Good thing I keep a good calender for everything. I can tell you when what was hatched, I just don't write down how many hatched. Only if I have a bad hatch, like the only one that hatched from some EE's and Amerauacanas. I have the one EE outside with the pencil rocks. I do believe I lucked out and it's a girl. I've been wanting that black EE or Ameraucana for a long time..since Lisa bought those blacks from me, then mine had that sad problem with the legs.
It snowed a bit here in our area last night, but not much..hope that other storm fizzles out for our valley, and just the mountains get it today.
well cynthia i am happy you are hatching, we know they will be very healthy and they will be socialized and loved. hope you have a good hatch with the bo, i may want to get one so the spr will have a friend but then i am not sure how that will work with the big age difference. i have a ee that is very good with young girls, she is very loving and protective so i know she will help the young girls. so is the spr still looking like a girl to you? but anyway welcome utahchickenmom!

Hector, the chicks are doing well. They were quite loud and worried when I first picked them up from you, but after a couple of minutes they settled down and just chatted in their box while I was driving (I had the box in my lap) Once I got them into the brooder, they went to town scratching through the pine shavings I had in there for them. I love my little cheep cheeps

Drink time!

I haven't picked out names for them yet, but I asked on here and some fellow BYC'ers seem to think that the little white one is a Delaware, which is what I wondered when I saw her in person. I wish I could have gotten her sister! I only had so much money on me. Bah.

Also, that white one has adopted the EE as her new sister. If I take the EE out of the brooder for a few seconds, the white one starts crying because she doesn't know where the other one went. I'm trying to help them get used to being handled by me so that they're more comfortable at their new home.

It was kind of funny - my hens started hanging out around the shed where I've got the brooder locked up the morning after I brought the chicks home. They keep trying to get a peek at the little ones, especially my Marans hen. I think she's getting broody.

Oh yeah, and First Hatchery Order Evar for Hector! W00t!

Wow, you guys have been busy! I got all choked up over how supportive and sweet everyone is.

Official welcome to you, UtahChickenMom!

Red, thanks for the update on the boys. They were fairly tame and fun to hold. Three roosters is a lot though, so I'm sure a couple will make a tasty dinner.

Thanks everyone for the welcome! Hubby thinks I am the more chatty of the two of us so I hope I don't wear out my welcome. Still learning about all of this stuff. ucm

Hello everyone, Ok, I am now official! Now if I can just remember my password, huh? Appreciate the invite. Will have to find an appropriate avatar. utahchickenmom.

Brad, I was looking at "her" today, and both of the ones I have look like girls..still. If that one ends up looking more rooish, I can get a girl from the gal that has the others. She is another friend up north, not that far north though. She is the one that says that mine are feathering out more, and mine have smaller combs than a couple of hers that she has pegged boys. So, I am hoping these two are girls. If not, I can get a girl from her. Out of all those pencils..there should be a few girls. She has a bigger place than I do, and sometimes she will take some of the chicks that I really want to watch and possibly keep. When they are babies, she takes them to schools for the kids to watch while they are waiting on baby chicks to hatch from the bator she has there for them. It helps them have fun with anticipation while waiting for the eggs to hatch. I will call her and see if she can send me some pictures to compare to mine.
