Utah!

Well Cynthia, don't take my word for it as a guarantee on the bloomers. It just seems to me like a lot of hens will have puffier thighs than the roosters. Could you refer to them as wide-hipped? Haha.

Well now, the wide hip makes since to me! lol...trying to post something I saw on wing feathering, hope it works... http://forum.beemaster.com/index.php?topic=26745.0
Yaaay, it worked..this is how I see it as they get about this age. Hard to tell right at first, but once those feathers start coming out, I notice that the short wings usually mean boy, longer, more wide mean girls.

Good information, thanks! Will have to watch close to see if this might work on some of these babies :)

Ok, it's getting scary windy out there. Guess it came from Lisa's way...hope it didn't get too bad out your way Lisa, we'll see how this goes..I don't even want to think about the power going out, I have too many eggs in the bator..and, I have 8 BO's pipped. Go away wind, sometimes that causes a power outage here. We are just over and down a bit from the canyon. Always windy anyway, but sometimes, we get the micro bursts.

Cynthia, how did you fare with the wind? It was pretty windy this way too.

OK, I will go find my camera and take pictures of my BLRW chicks for you.

Ok, here's the whole group.

This next shot isn't the best of the group, but the one has its' wings spread. I think it would be considered a splash, right?

And here is Zuli, the chick I "delivered".

Aww Wendy, they are pretty. They will grow up real nice looking. You shouldn't have any splash in there if these are the same eggs I got from Rebecca, all of hers were Blue Laced Red Wyondotts.
Some will have more red, and some more blue. And ooh, that one you delivered looks like a girl already..that was a BLRW right? It looks to have more red..that's the way I like them, probably because of the one I had years ago. Sweethearts for birds, and pretty laid back and easy going.

Yaay, no power outage. Couldn't get to sleep for a long time. Woke up to 3 chicks..more are popping out. :))

I think Zuli and Colbalt (the second from the left with the super dark head) will end up with the best coloring. I also feel extremely confident that Zuli is a girl. That's the only one I'm really wanting to put money on. There's another whose comb seems a bit bigger that I'll bet is a boy (the one on the far right), but otherwise, I still can't tell.

These came from Rebecca. I thought that the BLRW with the really light blue were splash, and that was possible from all blues. I don't know my chicken genetics though, so who knows. Even that lightest one has much darker feathers coming in at the shoulder.

Cynthia, I have NO IDEA how in the world you are able to sleep through chicks hatching.
