Utah!

I think Zulie is a girl too..lucky you, and she has a lot of the red. They change so much. The red color will keep coming in more, with the lacing around it more and more.
I finally did get to sleep. I just let them hatch..I could tell, nothing was going to happen until early morning anyway. I was right, the three that were hatched were still wet when I went in to look.
I now have 9 babies, the last two I'm watching, not as strong as the others yet. Or even as strong as the others when they first hatched. Sure is pretty to see all of that buff color in there. If anyone wants pictures, I will post some tomorrow.
Thanks for posting your babies Wendy, they really are a pretty bird aren't they, even at this age!

Cynthia-- you know pictures are always fun! If you have time, always love to see the fuzzy bums. Good hatch it sounds like! Baby buffs are so cute. (They all are tho'!)

Love the pics Sphinx! Wow they have changed so much! It is cute the way they lined up for photos. I do not know how you get them to hold still. You take chicken portraits haha, they always look adorable.

Hey, is anyone else on here from West Valley? I just went and talked to some people at City Hall and found out that the only way you can legally own chickens in WV right now is if your land is grandfathered, or if you are zoned for agriculture, which is a pretty slim portion of the city.

I'm going to an open meeting next Tuesday night at 6:30 to see if I can get something going. It has apparently been brought up before and a lot of people fought it, but there were a lot of supporters, too. I'm very interested in pushing to get something amended.

Hi, I too am from Utah. Salt Lake area. I am interested in getting rhode Island reds. I want to hatch my own. Does anyone know where I can get eggs. I do not want eggs sent in the mail. I have read too many bad things about shipped eggs. I only want a 2 dozen eggs. thanks for your help.

You might check out KSL from time to time. Periodically, you'll find people on there selling fertile eggs for different breeds.

Thanks RedIII, I have and I have not seen any one offering RIR. I want to use my lg I got off of KSL. I was hoping someone on this forum could help me. Pearl

I know I could get chicks from IFA or Cal Ranch but I do not want production reds and I know they some times sell them as RIR. I saw sunnybrook farms has heritage RIR. If I cannot get eggs I might pick up some there. Again thanks Pearl

Some people here have had some issues with Sunnybrook farms and disease so search back through here if you can. River Rock Family Farms has RIR but I'm not sure if she sells straight hatching eggs for them because they aren't listed in the chicks she is selling this year, you could probably get some fun barnyard mixes from her. I'm not sure how her set up is, I think someone else here has purchased from her and got good birds.
