Utah!

Wow Lisa, your garbage can went over the fence? That's some angry wind! I was out in Tooele when the storm front came through, and it was getting crazy out there, too. The wind wasn't quite as fierce as what was up in Logan, but it snowed pretty good for a while. It started dropping right as I was finishing with some chores outside, at which point I decided it was a good time to retreat indoors. I think my chickens agreed, because they were in the coop pretty fast   It started to dump right after that.

Did anyone else get buried?

Oh yes, and I have officially earned my first badge of honor with my chickens. One of my chicks finally pooped on me. And it wasn't a nice, clean little pile, either. It was, ehm, the result of medicated feed. I know, I know, you're jealous - you don't have to say so ;)

Oh yes it was lovely out for a bit. Over the fence. Along with my grill cover which is long gone...and a home depot bucket that I fill with water to take out to the coop. No trees or shingles down though :) Wind only bursted for a short time, but it was pretty gusty....then it dumped on us all night. It is melting down again....soggy everywhere. News says more tonight...really? Weird how dry for so long, then, well, all at once. I had class last night and drove home at 9:30----slid home is more like it, the roads were something else!

Gotta love the chicken poop! Potent smelling stuff right there lol! Good thing they are so cute huh! :p

Hey, does anyone know what IFA has this year in the way of ducks? Alternatively, I may put an order in for some mini-Appleyards or Muscovies. I haven't completely decided yet. Does anyone have interest in joining in on either?

Last year when I was looking for ducks my IFA said they'd just order them in for me when they did a chick order if I wanted. They didn't carry them regularly as the demand for ducks is pretty low. I ended up just getting them off of KSL as it was late in the year and they were only doing one more order of chicks, but yeah I believe most IFA's will order in whatever you want.

I just saw some ducks in Cal Ranch..in Spanish Fork yesterday. Sorry, I don't know my ducks like I know my chickens..now aint that the truth.

All I can tell you is, there were the yellow ones, that I'm sure will turn white..and then some black with the chipmunk yellow stripes. I just had to stand there and watch them. They are soo darling. I love their little beaks, and those feet..too cute! I did hatch some last year, just to say that I did..and they sold pretty quick. Harlequin's, or something like that? The hens are just as pretty as the dads, that's why I hatched them..plus, I heard that they are kind of rare?
Anyway, not sure you have a Cal Ranch up you way? Check them out if you do.

( I do not use the word aint) Just sayin.

I saw some ducklings out at the Tooele Cal Ranch last night. They had the yellow and chipmunk ones, but I also saw a bluish one that was sooo cute. I talked to someone there about ordering in some chicks with their next brood, yay! I really want a Welsummer, so we'll see what the scoop is when I chat with them next. Hopefully today.

Here is a picture of the eggs I got today. It still doesn't show how blue those on the right side are..there are four green ones on the top left. I put them in the light to try and get a good picture, but still, the light blue ones aren't that light..and the other blue ones are a teal color? Just blue. BBS again.
Darn, they look green, but boy are they blue. I hope I get a blue or splash out of these. Setting tonight. I have some others in a bator that are the same colors! Also, BBS's. Watch, I'll get all black girls.
