Utah!

Brr! Went out to get eggs, I liked the weekend weather lots better. Feels cold out there. We did get some crazy wind just a bit ago, but it was really short lived. Hope it stays that way! I don't think my girls are too happy with the cold, they are not even eating this morning, just hunkering down. And no eggs out there yet. :/ :/

Wind slowed waay down. Whew. That was pretty bad. Shinx, my little teen chicks..including the lavender, were out, but when it got real bad, they went in, then had some snow swirling..it stopped also.
Lisa..lol..that tree is still standing. I swear, those roots must be clear under the house, and that house is holding it up. lol

I have soo many babies. Blues, splashes, blacks..silkies..had.., they are almost all sold. They are selling like hot cakes! Must be spring.
Yes, I am pretty sure one of the splash cochins I am keeping is a girl. And, I am also keeping a splash Ameraucana..a blue splash. And I am keeping two black Ameraucanas! I am bound and determined to get my black!! I am thinking more and more that the black outside from sonew is a cockerel. I was hoping for a green egg from her/him, but now I will be getting blue eggs from these girls I'm keeping. They are way more puffy than the one outside..so, they will be a pretty bird. Plus, I am keeping a gorgeous blue, the dark blue, not the light. That's a lot to be keeping, but I will watch, then only keep the sweethearts. I really want my NH to be sweet. So far so good. and of course the Pencil. She is sweet too. My Speckled Sussex..oh what a sweetheart. Hope she is as sweet with the others as she is with me. The lavender is starting to come over to me when I go up to the run..she stands there and looks up at me, I feed them grass through the fence, a great way to be able to start getting close to them. They feel safe with the fence there, more safe than if you go into the coop and try to feed them by hand. Then as they get older, I just walk around them without trying to pick them up, they are used to you more, and trust you more. Then, when they are close to laying, they start to do that squat thing. I pat them on the back a few times, hoping it will stimulate them to start laying. Fun stuff..
Glad the wind is done...I hope! Wasn't expecting that!

I'm going out now to see, one isn't out there, my Wellsummer, so I'm thinking she's on the nest. I hope I get some eggs now that the wind has stopped.

We just had rain, a thunderstorm, snow, and now blue sky. I took pity on my 5 week chicks and brought them back in the house. They'll have to go back out tonight to make room for my Sandhill chicks tomorrow. I'll be posting pics and shamelessly trying to pawn some off on you all later this week.
Thanks for the welcome and I love that Delaware!

You can never post too many pictures here, LOVE the baby photos!

We have been having bursts of wind here, and I noticed when I went outside to get the girls out of the garage that it's noticeably cooler. No short sleeves for me today! I think we're supposed to have a storm rolling in tonight.

Cynthia, I'm dying over those Ameraucana babies. I wish so bad that I had room for one more baby chick. One day, I WILL get a chick from you! Hopefully a girl

Speaking of chicks, I keep kicking around the idea of either getting a BO for my mom, or another BR. I would try to get one that's the same age as my two teenage girls (9 weeks or so) since I don't think I can put any more in the brooder. But then I tell myself, "No, you don't need another bird. And how are you going to take care of all of them? What if the other girls don't like her and pick on her? What about the cost of feeding one more girl? Are they going to have enough room? You need to get that run done. The buck's gotta stop somewhere."

.........................................Confound it. I want one more teenager. Bah

the wind has been bad here too and i was out helping a neighbor cut down his quakies down and well he is a older guy and we try to help each other out and i play nice because he deals with my chickens lol. his son was there and he has never used a chainsaw and was doing some very stupid things and well we are lucky we survived and they did not fall into the house. yeah it was a very unsafe situation and the wind did not help.

Bleh, people that lack common sense just should not mix with power tools. Glad you guys are all safe. Plus, it's good to keep good neighbor relations like that, so good on ya!

yeah he should never go near a chainsaw in his life again. he lacks logic. if i was not quick with the rope the tree would be in there house. me in this neighbor do not always get along but we try to put up with each other the best we can. he puts up with my chickens fairly well. my coop and run is on my side yard. he does only think i have 10 but well its not hurting him to not know. i do not lie to him, it just has nevver come up lol. i try to be a good neighbor, i went out and helped him even tho i only have had half hour of sleep.
