Utah!

Okay, now that I see those pictures, it is obvious that it's actually the umbilical area, not it's butt. If that all heals up, I guess this chick will make it, and that explains why it is acting so perky. Glad I didn't cull it now! We're still in a wait and see thing, but a bit more hopeful now...

Lisa, plug it back in!!!! You never know! I've heard all kinds of stories of chicks surviving that sort of thing.

This rat is actually probably the prettiest rat I've ever seen- her coat is a reddish/brown color, and she has brown eyes. She's prettier than pet store rats, I think. My quick fix was to put a whole bunch of dirt in the area where I can see the hole, and then I put a couple of bigger cement bricks on top. I had been feeding my chickens macaroni and cheese (silly birds would only eat it if I hand fed it to them- wouldn't pick it up off the ground), and there was some leftover on the ground. I decided to leave it out overnight to see what happened.

When I went out this morning to bury the holes, the mac and cheese was still out on the ground. I thought FOR SURE the rat would've come out in the night and eaten it. Weird, isn't it?

Here's some pictures I took of my suspected lav rooster yesterday. I don't think he looks as red as the one on ksl (I didn't save the picture, drat), but it's comb is definitely pinker and more defined than the other one.

Donna--Oh good I am glad that it looks hopeful! Yay!

Yes I turned it back on just to see, but I know I should just toss them....they were so cold :he
Thanks for letting me get some eggs from you. I might go ahead and try some Marans eggs too from a lady in Paul Idaho. Hard to think about it right now, I am still trying to wrap my ahead around what just happened. I wish so bad I could go back and change what just happened. Hate that feeling!

Would you email it again, Lisa?

Here's a pic of the two lavs together. The smaller one is also darker (suspected roo on left, hen on right)

Another shot with mainly just the lavs

Then, this is the chick that if willpower can make a girl, he'll definitely be a girl. But, with wattles like that?

And then one more picture for fun. This is the chick that I hatched out of the egg on the webcam:

Sphinx--Aw pretty feathers on those BLRW! I will pm you those pics. Of the parents, and the ksl roo. My lavs look exactly like yours, the small and the big. Whatever yours are, mine are going to be too I am positive. The only difference is my big one is darker and little one is lighter.

Lisa! You didn't throw the eggs out did you? That isn't a problem at this point..67 degrees..unless you were in lock down, and still not too bad. I hope you kept them in there! They should be fine.

Had to take my poor little Yorkie to the vet. I really truley wondered if I would have a dead pup by morning. He was in a lot of pain, first thought obstruction, then looked up Yorkie health issuses at 5 in the morn. They can get what is called a liver shunt. The vet took some blood, will do all sorts of checking what they can out with the blood. And, wouldn't you know it, get him to the vet, he perks up. Of course their were other dogs in there. Waiting on results..two hrs. Just have to watch him, if he acts that bad again, doc wants him back in to see what is happening, but like he said, would probably perk up again. He is just laying around, not like him. I was in tears last night, thought I had lost my Dallas. It happened so fast. I went to bed with him by me, felt him shake, thought, oh oh, he didn't eat much, got up, gave him a boiled egg..and just got worse a while after that. My husband and I kept him inbetween us watching him until morning. He would settle down and sleep for a while. Then shake and stiffen up, then sleep. He's doing a little better at home..soo...?? We will see how that blood work goes.
Shinx, your birds are getting so pretty. How fast they grow!
I will go out and take a picture of my little one..yours are bigger. Maybe will give you something more to compare to.
BIAW.....

Ok, I'm back with some pics.
Not much of a wattle thing going on, and there aren't really any bumps started on the comb. The other two FYI, is a little RIR, and a Speckled Sussex. Love that Sussex, she is sweet, and the lavender is coming around too. :)
