Utah!

Welcome Sasha....

You are so lucky to live where you can have 20 chickens. I want to live up by you and Lisa! No fair. I have a daughter and son that used to live in Hyrum. I used to make the trip to Hyrum back in the day on a reg. basis just to visit. Love that valley! Beautiful.
I have some Wheaten Ameraucanas that will be hatching soon too. I didn't know you had Wheatens in Lisa. We will have to compare pics when they get here. I only have 6 left out of 10 I started with, they are in lock down as of today..part of the hatch along. I can't see in all of my eggs, especially the Araucana ones, so, just crossing my fingers on them. I could tell that there was a chick in most of them though, because of the way they want to roll to one side when setting them, let's hope they are fully developed chicks. :))

Cynthia, how fun! Yes I will just have a few....the FCBM and Wh Am, and Blue Orps are from pawtraitart, her FCBM are nice dark eggs, so those were the ones I was initially after, but got the assortment with the others so I could get them sooner, a full dozen FCBM would take a lot longer to get due to the waiting list. Then I will "kill two birds with one stone" so to speak. My blue and my dark brown :)

Who knows what will happen with my hatch along batch...they are the ones that got cold. They look ok so far, so lockdown for me on Wed.

The eggs I have in right now---7 due Saturday of the Pure Blue Wyandottes....then 4 due next Tue April 10th of the same breed. Then 11 BLRW due 4/22, then Wheaten Ameraucana, Blue Orps and FCBM toward the end of April :)

Hopefully it works, I am still worried  Sounds like you are due to hatch before me so I will look forward to pictures soon! :ya Hope the remaining 6 work.

Cynthia, want to get really jealous? I can legally have at least 50 chickens. Ha!

Thats what they let me have for my lot size in Logan City...50..... but then we also have animal rights so I think that lets us have more. I do not want to check into it to find out. For obvious reasons lol. But I try REALLY hard not to think about even the 50.... the chicken math starts up :p It is crazy how some cities are so stingy, we are lucky to have the lenient chicken rules!
What do they let you have in Spanish Fork Cynthia? You should move here. No wait, you should not!!!! Chicken math would be outta control! haha

I do have over an acre, so I can have livestock. If I was to have more than 10 or so, I'd definitely have to enlarge my coop and run. I'd been letting my neighbor graze her two horses on the back acre of my lot, but she's talking about selling them. So, I could theoretically build another coop/run in that part of the yard. It would be nice to have two runs if I were to start breeding a particular kind of chicken. Can't settle on one variety though.

so blondie the little bo i just got has some little red wattles, not pink, they are red. i am not panicking yet but she may just be a he. if she is a he i will be on the look out for a legbar. blondie is such a sweetheart too. i am still hopeful but she is looking like a he for sure

Birdman, oh I hope your BO is a girl! Maybe she just has some manly traits?

How's your SPR doing?

SpeckledHills, thank you, that was what I had first wondered about when I saw the blood. Can you (or anyone else) tell me where to look for those antibiotics? I checked in Cal Ranch today, but I'm a bit of a dunce and I could only find the medications for dogs, cats, horses, and rabbits. Does someone feel patient that can point me in the right direction?

My babies ate the second dollop of yogurt I gave them yesterday, so I'm hopeful. No blood yet today, here's hoping it's a good sign. I picked up some non-medicated feed and everyone was eating with gusto, plus I put a little bit of electrolytes in the water. I think I like the idea of giving them another helping of yogurt, as well.

Lisa..............What are you planning to do with those Blue Wyandotte babies?

Thanks for the welcome! I'm excited to be a new part of this community. :) Lisa, yes, please let me know when your wheaten Ameraucanas hatch as I'd love to get a couple if you have them available! I'll take some pictures this evening of our chickies to post. I have some that are a few days old but they change/grow so fast!

Red---hoping to find them homes :) Want one? The mama won a blue ribbon at the fair here....really pretty birds and sweet personalities. I might keep one, but mostly I wanted to learn how to hatch them with the eggs I had. I wanted to practice before buying expensive eggs.....the Marans and Wheaten Amer. were the ones I was really after. Hoping the blue still work. The ones due next week look really good. The ones due Saturday I cannot tell, dark...but hoping! then there are the BLRW due 4/22 from Donna. Her chicks from her birds are amazingly cute.

There are pics of the blue wyandotte moms on my page.
