Utah!

Yes, those rocks are big birds, even the hens.  My partridge I had was so big, even my DH made a comment about her.  Now, the Pencil is doing the same.  I have been letting my girls out to eat.  They are loving the grass, the bugs, and what ever else they find.  I think they may even be eating the wasps under our back porch, which is fine by us.  There for a while they were awful, would swarm us when we came out..now, since I let the girls out, they love being under the porch, and we hardly see any wasps anymore.  Go girls!

well i do love big girls lol :D that is cool they are eating your wasps, chickens are so handy to have around :)

The boss picked up what was supposed to be a trio of cuckoo marans but thinks she got some other kind of rooster. What do you think?

And for Lisa may i present Henry

Me thinks you have a black Australorp..those eyes, they have such gentle eyes. And oh boy, that looks like a nice little guy. It could fool you though. Not seeing any saddle feathers yet..and.. Australorps have larger combs and wattles. Let us know when it crows..or lays an egg. Wish we knew the age, then we could go by the color of the comb..pretty red there.
Who is that fine looking red roo?

I can't believe I have three pips already. Two are the green ones. One brown. They are due to hatch tomorrow, so, will probably hatch tonight. I'll wake up to baby noises again. I always miss that when I have put the others outside.

Cynthia---That is no Red Roo! That is my ex- GSL HenRee ( Girl )......lol! Love her!!! Thanks for the pic Pheonix. She has a big comb and with a name like HenRee I see why it looks like a rooster. I see you DO have an Aussie there, sure of that----and it is looking boyish....he would make a nice rooster for you. My teenager Aussie (Ozzie) is way older and still black/yellow. I LOVE that breed. But they lay light brown, not dark :(

Did you all participate in the Shake Out? I did at school. It was really corny because they made a "pretend" earthquake over the intercom, and it was just the office lady crumpling paper  Nobody really took it seriously, and we couldn't evacuate since it was pouring. Pretty disappointing...

He is supposed to be a rooster but the wife really wanted him to be a cuckoo maran. Any chance he is a cuckoo ? The wife wanted to be able to get those chocolate eggs and to do a little breeding of them. Sorry about the spelling on HenRee lol
Oh ya he is 6 weeks old.

Lisa, that's a girl.? wow. Looks like she has some leghorn in her.

I went in to check to see if I had any more pips..and found a chick from a green egg. First one to pip, have been looking, but that baby zipped fast. Wish they all would go that fast. It was quiet. It chirped when I flashed the light, just thought it was a chirp from inside the egg..but there was a chick!
