Awww, thanks for the birthday wishes you guys! You are so sweet! I lived it up by attending a continuing ed class on water damage and mold so that I can renew my Realtor's license at the end of the month. I know, that's pretty wild and crazy.


Cynthia, CONGRATS on the FBCM eggs!!!! I did my part. That is one of my very, very favorite breeds of chickens. Very exciting for you. I guess you'll have to do another hatch now, right?

Lisa, that is a crazy egg. Definitely a mystery. Seems way too light to be a BCM egg.

Cynthia--Those are the blacks I got from you----Shirlee---the EE's that were from a blue egg with the FBCM daddy. How weird is that?? The only other thing I can think of is maybe one of my older girls laid two today and this was a drop on the floor job because it is so skinny.....but I have never had a chicken lay two eggs in one day, except my white EE on her very first day she laid one little the size of a nickel then another more normal one right after.
Weird egg things going on out there---I wish I would have had the camera on and watched what the deal was out there! That is a really strange egg.

I'm sure the shape will change, not sure about the color though! See what they mean about not going by what color the egg was that the chick came from? Darn! At least it is brown, and not more white than brown like Hector's. I would say, especially EE's that have been bred with Black Coppers.
I just had a blue hatch a while back, and now I am pretty sure that the other is a splash, just from that color. It's darker, less yellow going on. Pretty color, hope it doesn't lay a white or brown egg! It's a pure Ameruaucana! Darn Shirlee. Did you cuss her out? I doubt you got two eggs from one today. That light spot will show up often on new eggs. Be glad it wasn't just an egg yolk. I don't like those because they can be eaten by the others. Glad it didn't break, but then again, she probably just laid there and had it. Didn't you say she was checking out the nest boxes? Guess she decided she didn't like them?

Lisa, wish you were coming down this way. I will be giving away black Ameraucanas..just want them gone. I want to get busy with my Silkies. I told you, fell in love.
Now, get this, one of the gals that I ordered from is sending extra eggs..only she is sending me Millie Fluer colored bantams..cochins as the extras. hmmm, will see what I will do with those. They are pretty. I will have my incubators going on outdoors for sure!
On the FBCM eggs I'm getting, not sure what I will keep out of those. Sounds like they are coming from a good breeder though.
I'm just going to have to pack up all of my babies that are hatched in three weeks, and meet folks somewhere.
Not sure how many that guy wants, he says, but we'll see what he does want.

Yes that stinker Shirlee has been taking over the nest boxes for the last two days. Why on the floor now....naughty girl. Good to know you have seen spots like that, I have never, it messed with my head haha.

So if it IS her then brown from that one. Laverne still to go. Unless it was Laverne---but Shirlee started squatting and turned red weeks ago, Laverne just this week. Still not sure who did that...will keep my eye on those girls awfully close now to get this right.

When you get the breeder info for these eggs post us a link so we can see pics! I might have to make a trip again to your place....we will see how many of mine hatch and are female.

Sphinx---you are no fun. You better come up with a better plan.....that sounds like a good class and all but ?? C'mon. There should be a party.

Lisa, the shape of that egg is strikingly similar to the ones my Cuckoo Marans will lay. She has the longest dang torpedo eggs I've ever seen, and they're a medium brown, I'd say only a 4 on the scale of 1 to 10. If your BCM-mixed girl just started laying, I'll bet that's one of hers.

Lisa, the name of the breeder of the FBMC I'm getting those eggs from is Arielle. I think that was what you were asking. I went to her photos..didn't see any Marans? Saw a beautiful barred something or other though. Is there such a thing as a barred Marans? That would be cool!

Red--I do think it was her. Brat. So on to my other possible blue egg layers...except 3 out of 4 are boys. I really am going to need to take another trip to Spanish Fork. Grr. or order eggs. I would rather not. The waiting makes me crazy. Plus I want chickens that will start to lay before Christmas!

I just went out to DE dust my girls BY MYSELF. My eyelashes are now white, and my black pants are pretty hammered. What is with the sweet calm girl act. You get DE on them and the FREAK and flap it everywhere, and it is so much worse than you pictured it in your mind.....

Yes! Cuckoo Marans! They look like BR. That is what Slvrphoenix has.
