Oh, that question reminds me: Cynthia & Lisa, how are your lav am girls doing? Mine seems to be quite a bit smaller than the blrw that were hatched a day or so later. I've even had people ask if she's bantam. She really is much smaller, maybe 30% or so?

Yes mine is smaller than the BA born 10 days later, and the EE born two weeks later.....she has stayed about the same size over the last few weeks

Cindy, your nest box curtains are so fun. I have decided--- I am committed. I am doing it too. I keep wanting to but just have not had time, trying the get the *blinking* garden in. Got the supplies, just have to hang them up. I am excited! Hope they help!

Sold my two blue girls yesterday. My neighbor has a friend that lost hens and needed some quickie eggs, so I thought I would go ahead, make room for some of the teenagers coming up to lay this summer. Down to 21! Woopee! Now if Ruth would write me back about those eggs.....Cynthia is there a better way to contact her than Pm?

LOVE my curtains...It is so nice not to have to clean out the nest boxes every day. I have someone picking up some of the SLW this afternoon...Now if only someone wanted the roosters....

Hi! My first post on BYC. I live in Davis County and I am looking for a frizzle bantam cochin. Does anyone know where I might find one? I am willing to drive a ways to get her. If you know someone who has them or have any suggestions as to where to go I would really appreciate it. Thanks

Welcome to BYC, happy2bhere! I think Sasha had a frizzle she was selling just a short while ago, but it was a boy.

So, I'm planning on getting better pictures this weekend, if at all possible, but check it out!


I'm thinking that little one with the white on it could be one of the Marans's babies? I so bad want to see them up close!

A couple of questions, where do you get your feed in Utah? I've been using IFA brand and I'm wondering if there are better quality and/or organic options locally?

Another question, do you clip wings? If so do you do 1 or both? Our Welsummer keeps getting out of the run, which isn't a huge deal now but will be later when the garden is really going.

Clip one wing so they don't get out. I buy my feed at Sunset and Western, they have a purina mills feed and that had kept my chickens happy but I recently traded some of my extra garden veggies for 80 pounds of a new non-layers feed, its a lot healthier for them and its fit for chickens and chicks. The people who bought that feed and traded it to me were from Mesquite and they loved organic stuff so I'm trying that out right now...try the Mesquite feed?

My lavender are also small. I remember my last blue Ameraucana was like this. I thought she would never get to be the right size! I'll see if I can find pictures of her.

Lisa, it took ruth a few days to get back with me too. I just did the pm. When did you send it? She probably comes on more often only when she has an auction going on..but I saw an old auction that was over, and that's how I found her. I just asked her if she had any more Welsummers. Which reminds me. Kirk wants all of my Welsummer babies. I told him..ok, if you can come get them when you say. He told me he picked up yours today, and that you told him about my Wellies. He says, hey..I was good on the first two times I bought from you. I was right there. He says he's had a rough spring...lost his bull I guess. Spring is over. No more calves, so he should be able to come and get what I have and want to sell by the 31st. He says, the 31st..could be bad, could be good. I say, could be good because it's Kirk saying he will come get them then! Of course we are chuckling as we talk, but he knows I won't wait, I told him so. When I first answered the phone, he says, hi, this is the man that you are mad at. I told him I wasn't mad, I just couldn't hold on to them any longer. He understood. He wants my Marans that came today too..I finally got my prize eggs from the easter hatch a long. I got both marans and some Ameraucanas. I think they may be EE's though. I'll have to ask her.
I went to my voice therapy today..they didn't do therapy today, just more tests....I call them gag tests. I can't stand anything near the back of my throat! They took video of me saying Eeeeee.....and had to say something for 10 secs. I finally was able to get them some decent video. My throat is sore now. She thinks they can help me. It showed it was swollen, and when she felt my throat, she said, wow, that is so tight. Then the video showed how it closes in around my vocal cords. My vocal cords look good! yaay! I could tell too by watching what she took video of.
Ok, enough. Going to wash some babies that hatched. I got a showgirl! Kind of funny looking little critters. Had to help the last two out. Only have three out of this batch, but oh boy, the ones I got from the gal on BYC are going to be pretty and fluffy! I have more hatching on Mother's Day.

My eggs that I won in that contest..Marans, and Ameraucana eggs. I think my Welsummer eggs I got the other day are just as dark.
