Utah!

Yeah, I bet that is a leghorn/ee cross.

I thought really hard about the webcam (still am, actually). Honestly, I didn't expect much to happen until tomorrow. I am babysitting a friend's 3 kids, and getting over there to set it up would be really difficult. Plus, the teacher has her classroom all torn up for their "animal day" today (how appropriate that they'd choose today to be interesting!). To get to the internet cable would be difficult. On the other hand, I *DID* buy that USB extension cord..... Hmmm. I think I'm still a bit short on length.

I ordered them from McMurray Hatchery so probably not a cross? I think I'll go with clean faced ee? Watch, she'll prove me wrong when she lays! And is it possible to tell if a Cochin is a roo? One of the ones going to my friend is a Cochin (i'm guessing, it was one of the extra fancy ones) and it's looking awfully red in the comb and waddles, i'll put up a pic!

Sphinx that is so weird. Never heard that either. Hope she is ok!
17 weeks old, so it should not be stress about laying yet ?! Did it almost seems like she sneezed or something in the middle there?

....Now I have to think about how many are in my coop.

i would be very careful about doing a tour of coops, sicknesses, bugs etc can easily spread this way. i know i would not do it, i would not even go on the tour because it puts my flock at risk. i only let people i trust near my coop, i just do not want to risk it. but anyway that is just the way i feel. i wish anyone that does this the best of luck! :D

Good point. I would be lysoling my shoes before I came home (or before getting back in my car after each house actually) to be sure not to bring home little critters on my feet.

Oh man. I just did it. :he Pm'd birdguy to see if he really has the Delawares or if he is kidding. I guess the self control went out the window for this week.....between hattie's polish and the delaware and the new chicks I am no longer at 21. Argh I will go eat a bag of chips now. CYNTHIA THIS IS YOUR FAULT haha, looked at that picture about 20 times before I pushed "send"

I decided to catch the lav and see if she was choking or anything. She didn't want to be caught, but once I did, she settled into my arms nicely. I looked in her mouth and didn't see anything. Felt her throat from the outside, and it felt normal to me. I stroked her neck and throat, and she fell asleep and stopped making the noise. So, it seems to only be when she's awake. The fact that she breathed normally, soundlessly while asleep on my lap makes me think that things are probably ok.

I am still a little freaked out. I really hope she's ok.

Me too that was a very strange sound. Crossing fingers and toes for you. I worry about her! She is family.

Birdguy does indeed have pullet chick Delawares coming. (Sigh) No need to take bets on whether I did it. I really wanted one more white chicken so I am happy about it. I figured I will keep one of my new chicks after they grow out instead of 2 to make up for it. And my Marans eggs are doing fair to partly cloudy so I may not have any of those hatch again. Argh, makes me sad those are so hard. I did get two pullets ordered from qcu so I will get some one way or another, it would just be more fun to hatch them myself! You sure you can resist Red I would gladly get a Delaware for you and bring it when I come to SLC next.....he says he has forty available ! You too Blujems :)

Also, just a note here, the Jerseys, whatever hatch...if ...are all sold. Will have BR and EE left.
