Utah!

Ok, have to ask, I'm thinking it was you that is getting those little marans and white EE mixes? I know, I'm terrible. But I was thinking someone else here wanted Silkies, or showgirls.
I have a lot of Silkies hatching right now. :)
Yes, that is me!! Red said she has them, I"m soooo excited!!!!

Thinking lots about Lisa, too....

Y'all are welcome...I may run over to Lisa's house tomorrow afternoon...I'm currently in Wendover, NV. Took a road trip with my mom, Aunt and grandpa. Grandpa hasn't been doing well at all and has been begging us to take him, so we have indulged him.
Being away from my family used to make me really anxious...but now the girls are older and can take care of themselves so now I'm nervouse about being away from my chickens! LOL

our poor Polish Roo, Rocco (we got him from Lisa) got the back of his hat ripped out yesterday.

almost no blood, as the roots were left intact. Very strange. I almost think maybe one of the goats took a mouthful because they were in the pasture together. We're keeping him cooped with just the other Polish for now and let him heal a bit.

Thanks for the update... sorry about your roo!! sheesh, that is weird, sounds like a goat culprit...

Hi guys! I am here......no worries. I appreciate all the pms and good wishes but really things are ok :) Just been busy....family been visiting from out of town, and lots of driving taking my niece to and from Idaho she has been staying with us. She was here keeping my daughter company, my daughter and our family lost a good friend a couple weeks ago, and life has been hectic, but all is ok :) I had not posted publicly here, these are just unhappy things going on, and this is my happy place so smile for me!! We will get through. And I do appreciate all the prayers and good vibes being sent :) Things are getting fairly back to normal for us, but lots of family visits and preparations for different trips over the next week or two.

Cynthia, so glad you have sold all those babies! So glad because then there are none left for me to snap up, I seriously need to stay away from your place, so many gorgeous babies happening! The BA I got from you, "Ozzie" is also turning quite red, and she is big....do you know when they start to lay? She is almost 19 weeks. My lav is a week older and she does not look anywhere near thinking about laying, teeny little thing and still very light pink. Then there is the EE---the fluffy face one,one of cowgirls, everybody said boy based on feathers but it is a girl for sure. She will be laying soon too. She is 18 weeks. Will need to get a pic up so you can see how she turned out, black and white speckled with a black beard/muffs, pretty cute :)

My BJG, BR, and EE eggs shipped, should arrive tomorrow or Thursday. So they will be due to hatch 2 days after we leave for vacation......lockdown would be the day before I go. Grrrrr. So I won't get to see the babies come out, but will come home (hopefully) to some cuteness. I have a neighbor that I think will take care of the hatching, but I really hate to miss it! And I will worry while I am gone of course. Bad timing!

Hope you make it back safe! Poor Rocco, hope his little hat grows back. No worries, Sasha, we are doing ok and trying to stay happy. I appreciate your looking out for us :) Things are getting a little easier, just taking it one day at a time :) Having family here has helped for sure.

Oh, poor Rocco and his hat!!! I hope it grows in fast.

Sundance, I think as long as you see veining, things are great. I've had several hatches where I swear one or two eggs look days behind the others, and then they go surprise me and hatch first.

Lisa, Omigosh, you've got eggs due to hatch after you go out of town?! You are HARD CORE! If you want me (and my webcam) to babysit, let me know.

I'm glad to hear your lavender is still tiny, Lisa. Cynthia's and mine are the same way. Cynthia's is starting to fatten up a little, but nowhere near as much as mine. But, they're both still tiny- just a little bigger than bantam size. I think my cream legbar is coming up on overtaking them in size.

I still only have two hens laying- the partridge rock, and my gift RIR. I have two pullets that I hatched the first week of Jan (RIR and GLW) that still aren't laying. My BLRW from the first week of Feb also not laying.

I think with Corvidae's batch of BLRW, I'm going to pull out two pulletish looking ones, and then try to sell the remaining 5 at an amazing price. I want to get that done before we go out of town next weekend. That way, babysitting won't be as big of a chore. Right now, I'm having to check their food and water a couple times a day, and my neighbor is really busy.

The other big thing I've been occupying my time with is those (&&%&%#%#$ thistles. They're starting to really take over, and I want to mostly eradicate them. So, I've been digging 100+ a day, and making my two older kids do the same.

Bleh thistles, once they get a hold they are dang hard to get rid of for sure. Thanks Sphinx for the bator sitting offer, it would be awesome to watch them hatch on the cam :) Will let you know, might be hard to find people around the week of the 4th. I have my neighbor house sitting, need to take my dog to the pet hotel, hire the neighbor kid to come water (we have no sprinkler system, I do not know what we were thinking!?) get eggs and check on my girls, and find a bator/chickie sitter :) I ordered the eggs weeks ago, had I known it would take this long to ship I would have waited. I thought they would be hatched waaayy before I left.

My little lav has little sisters too huh? Of course they will take forever to mature so we are kept in suspense on the pretty blue egg. Argh. I keep hoping my Blue Wheatens from Chickenstock will be ready soon, but those faces are not red at all yet......I really think the Australorp (born 2/10) will be the next one, even though the others are older. She looks really close. They will all probably start laying while I am gone :p Hope I get one new egg layer in the next few weeks, I have been waiting forever it seems like. My Buff Orp still has not started laying again, lazy girl. She better straighten up :tongue

I am willing to help out with the incubator too...I don't go very far from home. Don't have a camera though.

Utahchick..you had back surgery? Oh my goodness, that's a tough one! Take care! I know what you mean worrying over those chickens while you are down. I went through that last fall when I had my neck fused. I was lucky, they did pretty good. In fact, I think it helped my DH to come around to chickens more, he could see how they are, not just a bird, but a bird with personality. He would come in and tell me who was doing what..which I already knew about, but let him tell me. Then he started getting a favorite or two. It was fun to watch him from the back door while he was out there with them, he was talking to them, oh yes he was!
