Ooo, the little, umm, I mean tall stalker. How's life? Keeping busy in this heat?? Man, I took the hose to my chickens again today. I spray them down. It's so funny, my leghorn and red sexlink, love it. The pullets kind of move around, but they like the wet ground when I'm done. Loots of water out there for them..keep putting the cooler water in. I should have my DH look into doing those water nipples like you are talking about. So many neat ideas on here!

link for the contest? i am good, been spending loads of time dealing with contractors working on the foundation leak. oh and my little sis met a nice guy a few weeks ago and well we are now planning her wedding in august lol. and we are trying to get my older sis to make things official with her man because they have already been telling people for years they are married lol.

Sphinx, loving your new coop and feeder! Nice to haul so much food out at once. We have been doing the 5 gallon bucket feeder......hmmmm.....it is gong faster and faster with all these girls growing up! Might need to steal this idea (another one!) from ya Wanted to do the Yellowstone camp Baaaad!! Wish it was on a weekend. I did not dare take another weekday off from work, I used quite a few days with our other trip coming hope you have lots of fun! We will definitely have to meet up somewhere I think we are doing Island Park over Pioneer Day, I have a four day weekend... not decided yet....thought about Moab but it gets hot so going north might be more fun.....Jackson maybe So many places to go, so few weekends!!

Cynthia, You gotta go do your camping! I start counting the days til winter on the day summer begins. I can't get in the mountains enough this time of year! My family teases about how I am always saying "there are only XX weekends left to go camping! If we do not go now it is one less!" And with Austin here, you gotta go! Go. pack. now.

Awwww just do it now. All at once. See how much trouble that has gotten me into? Daloorashens is going for it too haha Daloorashens---Love your flock, lots of cuties in there! I have looked over my Wheatens from Bonnie (Yes you have all the dates and origins right! ) They were Born May 25 and 26....I believe I have one very blue wheaten, and three regular Wheatens. The blue one has lots of blue coming in, all over. The others are very caramel colored for the most part. Will get pics up of those this week It is funny to me how different these all look compared to my Wheatens from pawtraitart. Her two look very similar, and Bonnie's look very similar, but the birds from the two different flocks have lots of different patterns and hues in their feathers. I like them all, just funny how they have such a different look It makes it hard to choose which ones to raise long term. Maybe All! Muaahahahaha Probably the ones that lay the bluest egg......

DH came home with the chicks!!! 2 FBCM's and 3 Leghorn EE's from Cynthia !! THANK YOU so much Cynthia and Red for your help getting them=) It's official, my chicken math is pretty messed up... I now have 24 chickens.... 6 hens, 3 pullets, 6 teenagers and 9 chicks.... sheesh I think I need help=)

Actually the problem is that aren't counting them right.. soooo here's a little lesson in Chicken Math..

Ok.. you started out good... 6 hens

but... pullets don't count till they are hens which is officially at 1 year old.. teenagers don't count either nor do the chicks... especially the chicks because 1/2 will be roosters and are gone anyway..

so really you have 6 + 0 + 0 + 1/2 of 0= 6 Chickens...

You should come see my barn... I only have 26 chickens (and maybe something like 150ish zeros that don't count...)

I admit it, I've been lurking. Checking posts a couple times a day from my phone, and I HATE trying to reply on BYC with my phone, but now I'm finally on the computer. Tons of stuff going....happy for everyone's eggs that are hatching! Yay! So exciting! Looks like 3rd time's the charm for me and incubating eggs....except these are my daughter's Ancona duck eggs and not chicken eggs! But things are going VERY well. Today is day 17. Started with 12 eggs, 1 came badly cracked, 1 was unfertile, and 1 quit by day 7. So 2 were totally out of our hands. The remaining 9 look GREAT.
Sphinx-I'm SO tempted to ask you about your Lav Am. roo, but Howard reminded me that we already have 3 roos. *sigh* Oh, and I'm so sorry about your daughter's broken arm! NO fun! My duck loving DD has never broken any bone and she's 18. My 14 year old has broken a few; collarbone, thumb, maybe a toe. (I'm a totally different story!) I hope she heals quickly. (Use those oils!)

Red-I am SO sorry someone stole your truck! What a ROTTEN thing for a person to do.

The day after Howard deployed to Iraq the 1st time, our Explorer was stolen. They found it about 4 months later, in about 500 pieces.

Hopefully you find your truck much sooner than that, and unharmed.

Cynthia-I know there was something I wanted to say to you, but I'm having a brainfart!
Lisa-I'm glad you had a fun trip to Lava. Remind me when your eggs are due to hatch? I have a family reunion July 7-8, but I'd be more than happy to bator-sit for you if they aren't hatching those days. As for your little Polish....yay for cuckoo color! The baby (girl) I posted a picture of that is cuckoo, I think is turning out to be a blue cuckoo. She keeps changing! Yesterday I thought just a blue, today I'm back to thinking blue cuckoo. I just need to learn some patience. The chick we suspected may be boy, I'm confused with. His wings are black, but he has some cuckoo coloring on his tail and back. Hmm. So I don't know what to call him! Or.....her? No sign of wattles yet on either of our polish chicks. If you have a boy and I have 2 girls, maybe we'll trade back and forth. Here's some pictures. One more thing! Rocco (Polish roo) is a little lost in the ways of chivalry. Isn't a roo suppose to help his hens find food? Well, I had two sliced ends of a tomato that I tossed to the 5 "big" chickens. (All between about 14-18 weeks) The Ameraucana and the 2 Wyans shared pecking at one, and Rocco took the other and RAN! Elvis (his constant companion) was hot on his heals, but he refused to share his prize. After he downed his tomato (pretty quickly) he ran back to steal the other tomato piece and ran away with it, too! What a little bugger! Hedwig (Amer) chased him for a minute but finally gave up. Rocco was NOT going to share. It was kinda comical, though. I'll upload the video to Youtube...sorry for the audio, my DD was trying to converse with me while I was recording.
