Utah!

It WAS me that said the SS....but I guess it was the NH after all. :)
I found two eggs in the barn tonight. The neighbor's chickens sometimes come and lay in random places in our pasture, but now they are somehow getting into our old barn and laying. It's kinda fun. :)

Sad news from the home front....we lost one of the black and white girls that was shrink wrapped. :( She had been doing great this morning, but this afternoon faded very quickly. It's so sad! I feel terribly for Sierra. This is her first death among all the ducklings she's raised this year.
The good news is, goopy baby's yolk is 99% absorbed! Yay! He's got a big, round head, so Sierra is calling him Pumpkin. :) His feet are a little curled in but again, waiting to see if they will correct at all on their own over the next day or so.
Upside Down Pipper is doing so well! She's walking upright most of the time now, and her splayed legs don't spread as far and as often now. Hopefully more progress by tomorrow morning so I don't need to splint. Her bill is so much smaller than everyone else's, and I think it's because it was stunted from being crammed in the narrow end of the egg.
Here's a pic from just a few mins ago. Bed time!

Cute little duckies!!!

I don't want anything that climbs; I have rosebushes in that same bed. Bishops weed is definitely possible, I could get a start from my parents or grandmother. Then we could have mint v. bishops weed, the ultimate smackdown!

What can I say? I'm weak. Meet Thing 1 and Thing 2.

They were being picked on, so their topknots, necks and backs are a bit scraggly.

Wow, those are cute! I admit, after your post about seeing them at IFA I considered going and getting them but I wasn't sure which IFA it was. Probably a good thing. I didn't know they came in that color and I must say I really like it. Congratulations!

By the way Sphinx, I don't think you could have come up with more perfect names.

Gave me a chuckle

Sasha, I'm so sorry that one duckie didn't make it. :-( The surviving ducks are so cute, and I'm glad you're seeing improvements in the leg and the yolk sac.

delarooshens, thanks for the suggestion!

Happy, those guys were actually at Peterson Farm, not IFA. I'm glad you like the names, I've been giggling a bit myself. I suspect these guys are supposed to have coloring like a golden laced wyandotte, which means they're lacing is pretty awful, but I still really am thrilled with them. I can't wait to see what they look like all filled in.

Sphinx.. I had not idea Polish came in so many colors!! I love what you named them... they do somehow remind me of those pesky little guys in the book I read to my kiddos a few times a week!!

Sphinx, that first shot of your new Polish chicks reminds me of the little togas they wear on the Flintstones

They be cave chickens! Very cute, too. Were they straight run?

Ack, so sorry to all those who are dealing with ash and smoke from the fires. I have family down in the Riverton area, so they're right by that one in Rose Canyon

I think there would be a lot of rebellion if fireworks were outlawed completely this summer, but I wish they could ban them, with the exception of a couple of very controlled shows that the public could come and watch. I have a feeling that the law is going to have its hands full stamping those things out this year. I'd be fine with foregoing any, if it meant keeping people safe.

Sasha, I'm sorry you guys lost a duckling. That's so sad. It's good that the little one with the yolk sack is doing better, though. Keep us updated, for sure.

Hey, got a question for anyone who has/has had BSL's. I know that their coloration can vary a bit, but have any of you ever had white come in on a hen? I noticed a couple of days ago that my mom's BSL has white flecks coming in on her body, wings, and face. It's kind of cute. It makes it look like her stuffing is coming out or something
lol.png
I just thought it was unusual, since I've only ever heard of black and orange/brown on those hens.

I just had a guy call me that is looking for blue Ameraucanas, and maybe just and ameraucana...rooster/roosters. I can't remember who has what here, but I know I've heard a lot of talk about roosters. Let me know, I can call him back, he said he would come all the way "down" here to get it or them. He would like a blue hen too. He live in Ferrin..not sure how to spell that.

Just got back from the Salt Lake "Tour de Coops" and boy was it fun! Saw a lot of interesting ideas the people have done

with their coops and yards. I borrowed my sister-in-law's camera so I could take pictures to show you guys when I got back but I

am computer challenged and will have to wait for my husband to download (or is it upload?) the pictures onto our computer. Thank

heavens he was with us because due to the fact that I am also map challenged there is no way that my mom and I would have

found half of those addresses. Definitely going next year. I was pleased to see that each house had a pan of bleach water at the

entrance to their back yards that we could step into to prevent the spread of germs and disease. Lots of fun! (the coop tour, not

the bleach pans

Oh, that sounds like so much fun, Happy2BHere. I'm glad to hear about the bleach water. I wanted to go, but it just wasn't in the cards.

Red, yes, these guys were straight run.
