Utah!

Thanks. She's had severe depression for years and just couldn't go on. Very sad. So I was especially grateful for the blog smile. I'll have to looks for this year's anniversary post - I doubt that your DH should worry. You don't need anyone else's ideas

Ann, so sorry about your friend, how sad. I can understand to a point. My DH's former wife dealt with depression, she also couldn't go on. That's why I met him a while later, and allll..of those kids. :) Those poor children, some are still trying to come to terms with all that had happened in the past. It was real hard on them. Of course it was.
Considering though, they have come a long way. They are hard working kids and good moms, and one dad. Scott had the girls, one boy, I had the boys, 1 girl. His, mine, and ours. Huge family gatherings for sure. :)) 12 kids and 32 grandchildren. Haven't had a grandchild in a while, hmmm, let's see, who is ready for another one? We have a few that could be.

We will be great grandma and grandpa before we know it. Where does the time go?

Heat is getting to my chickens. Only got my one white egg today from Miss Piggy.

Interesting... didn't know that about RIR's...

SPhinx, have you had any eggs from your Leghorn crosses yet?? The ones I got from Cynthia are very small, but they look very different from one another... one stand more upright, like a Leghor, and has a shorter body but has the slate legs one has a longer body but yellow legs... curious to see what they end up looking like..

Did you see the photo I posted of mine a few pages back? Do yours look like mine? I noticed she is way smaller than the blue EE that came with them. Green eggs. The pictures of these grown up do look small like a leghorn. That would be great, less to feed, blue eggs. :) I should get a picture of mine again, along side of the blue EE that the guy sent with the leghorn mix eggs.

I think it's exactly THAT that worries him. LOL I'm so sorry about your friend. Depression is such an awful, misunderstood disease.

Delarooshens, I didn't have any leghorn crossses from Cynthia.

I'm Back! Man I missed you guys. A lot. Wanted to share all the fun we were having, but did not take the computer, i swore off all surfing to spend that great bonding time with family :)

So much going on! Cynthia--sorry about the showgirls. And your cold. And your SPR being a stink. Glad you are doing better, fire free for the moment....

Sphinx-your coop and run are looking AWESOME! Your DH is doing a great job. Oh I was going to mention your Polish, boy or girl won't get wattles at all if they are bearded. Yours were bearded I think? I learned that on mine, just black fur for cute little beards. So it is hard to tell sex until a little later on the bearded ones, no idea what to look for on boys other than the crowing.

Sasha my frizzle polish has BRIGHT RED wattles tonight, I am positive this one is a boy. Let me know if you still want him. Hope one of the new ones is a girl :p I will pm you about coming to pick up the newbies. Thanks again for picking them up and keeping them for me!

Red- Your RIR is beautiful....and a girl so all is right in the world, right? haha.

Birdman, congrats on the SPR laying! And Cynthia, I saw you have some too! And UtahCHickendad! Awesome! I have no idea if my Australorp laid yet, need to ask my daughter what the eggs looked like, she was housesitting and took the eggs home. I hope I did not miss the first one.

Daloorashens----ok I have to tell you this, the other blue wheaten you have looked an awful lot like my blue wheaten roo in that picture way back there. It had lots more blue coming in, we better compare. Will send you a pm pic of this boy in the morning. I do still have a girl here for you though for sure.

Sundance, hope you feel better soon! And hi to everyone else on here---funny goose story---Hi Blujems, will get out to your place to get those babies, THANK YOU! The EE is perfect :)

SEATTLE- was great! No rain! Saw as much as we could fit in, my daughter saw the house we lived in there, the place I worked, rode the ferry, chilled on alki beach (seafair is going on, crazy!) shopped, ate lots of fish and seafood...enjoyed the 70 degree weather (wow!) got a big parking ticket  ....went to Bremerton, Point Defiance Park, everywhere from Tacoma north to Kirkland....strolled U of W campus, spent too much money at Pike Street...gained about 7 pounds, and now after a 12 hr drive home I am beat. So glad to be home!

My girls are all doing well, survived the heat, and had lots of treats so they are glad to see me back I think :D

I met Aunt Hattie today. I love her! She is the nicest person and getting to know her was definitely a bright spot in my day. She brought us some chickens from BirdGuy and drove all the way from Idaho with them in the cab of her truck.

We asked BirdGuy to pick out some friendly chickens for us for my mom, and I was more than impressed. They were super sweet and I had no idea that they were going to be so pretty. The Cochin/Orpingon cross was blue-grey with dark edging on the feathers and feathers on her legs. The Orpington is either a blue or lavender splash. I'm not very good with colors so he can correct me if I'm wrong. I really want to get some more from him so that I can have some too. Soooo sweet

Thank you Aunt Hattie and BirdGuy!

Red---I almost forgot, let me know how many BR chicks you want :) Cindy said there were three that hatched. You are welcome to them all, I have no one else that has spoken for any and my Violet is not to be replaced anytime soon :)

Happy, I am headed to Idaho Falls this weeked and should see Birdguy if you want me to bring anything else back for you, I am in Logan. Now if I can just make it back with no more for myself!!

My two hens that have chicks sleep in a litter bucket laid on its side, When I went out to do my last back yard patrol I looked in both coops found one of the baby chicks had decided to sleep in the big coop. It was cute this chick snuggled on the roost between the big chickens, I picked her up and walked over to her moms bucket, shined the light so she could see mom. She went running over and dived under mom. So cute, That mom is a bantum RIR Chicks are 2 blue langshams and a Salmon favorille. It was one of the langshams that was in the big chicken coop. I then went to check on the silkie. She has 5 babies. 4 polish and a black cochin Her babies have gotton so big that almost don't fit in the bucket any more. Its so cute t see them all crammed in the bucket, I am thinking I am going to need to find them a bigger house. They run loose in the yard all day and I let the other chickens out so they can free range a few hours a day, Its so cute to see them all interact. I'm thinking the teenagers need to go into the big coop and they can have the teenager coop.
While I was in Alaska the alarm went off on my incubator. My son happened to stop by hear the alarm and added a bunch of water, When I got home the next day humidity was at 70% I took a bunch of water out but who knows what that did to my eggs. They go into lock down tomorrow, Question? How do you candle the dark eggs. I tried to candle and could not see a thing, I've ordered one of those high intensity candlers but it won't get here in time.

You know, my best hatch was those Wheatens.....11/12 eggs from start to finish. I did the totally dry hatch, not a drop of water until lockdown then I got it as high as it would go. I could not see in a lot of those blue eggs, they were really thick, I say do the "hope and pray" method lol!

I think the ones that Cindy hatched for me just got too beat up during shipping. I had so many quit early.....then at hatch I probably should have set them in cartons, that seems to help alot so they do not roll all over when there are lots of eggs in there. SOooooo glad 5 hatched though, those eggs were so traumatized my goal was just to get one out! And the mustardy one made it, so I am hoping it is a girl! I could not see in that one very well either, I was kind of surprised, hooray :)

Sundance I would snag one of those sizzles in a minute, but I am trying to avoid silkies (for this season) to not have broodies. They are so stinking adorable, I just wish they did not go broody so much!

Missed you girl!

Met Sasha today. I felt so bad, that I have this cold. I hope they don't get it. Family was here too. She hugged me anyway. What a sweetheart. I think I already said that somewhere else. Everyone here is a sweetheart. Yep.
Her girls loved my Golden Retriever, he loved them right back. :) So did my little dogs. Dogs know good folk.
