Utah!

Didn't you say that you have your own leghorn crosses, because of the leghorns you got by accident that were supposed to be cornish x's?? Or am I thinking of someone else??
That might be me. I got Leghorn hens with my Cornish Cross meat birds last year. Now I have some Leghorn/Amer chickies growing. I think two are roos. One has a pea comb and light colored legs, but the other looks Leghorn. Two more I think are gonna be girls and they have blue legs. And some younger chickies. I was hoping for some blue eggs, after reading blue egg gene is dominant, but recently read something about the Leghorn shell that might suppress it. I have an EE that looks part Leghorn, and she lays blue. We'll see. Would be interested to know what eggs others are getting from this cross. And I have more chicks if someone wanted to help me experiment

Ann, so sorry about your friend, how sad. I can understand to a point. My DH's former wife dealt with depression, she also couldn't go on. That's why I met him a while later, and allll..of those kids. :) Those poor children, some are still trying to come to terms with all that had happened in the past. It was real hard on them. Of course it was.
Considering though, they have come a long way. They are hard working kids and good moms, and one dad. Scott had the girls, one boy, I had the boys, 1 girl. His, mine, and ours. Huge family gatherings for sure. :)) 12 kids and 32 grandchildren. Haven't had a grandchild in a while, hmmm, let's see, who is ready for another one? We have a few that could be.

We will be great grandma and grandpa before we know it. Where does the time go?

Heat is getting to my chickens. Only got my one white egg today from Miss Piggy.
You guys are like the Brady Bunch, and you're the Lovely Lady! What a blessing you were to those kids, especially in their struggles. No wonder you are so kind-hearted, you had to be. I hope some time in the future these kids will be as blessed. They are so tender and have cared for her and each other so well, I know it will be hard for them.

That's a GORGEOUS Showgirl you sent to Lisa!!

Red - Thanks for the kind thoughts. I need to learn to use the Multi button

Sundance - Great pics! Love the gold boots. My daughter has a cowboy boot collection, but loves Uggs. She would be jealous.

Lisa - Thanks for sharing pics! Beautiful Showgirl/guy!

So excited!! I have some Wheaten/Blue Wh eggs coming from Chicken Junkies and Madelyn on Wednesday. I hope they travel well. This WILL be my last batch of the year. (Someone please take my incubator away when they are hatched and store it til next year!)

Those are the cutest babies. Cannot wait to see your hatch! Good Luck! I have no eggs currently. I am soooooo trying not to do any more! I am packing the bators away as we speak.
I am so happy with my flock I have for this year, and not really wanting to rehome anybody right now. I ended with 30, with a couple that I will not know gender on for awhile. I really want to get down to 24, but I love them all, so I guess I will wait to see what roosters pop up then decide if i should keep them all or not. There is a LOT of poop he he he.....

each full size chicken poops 45lbs a year so yeah that is a lot of poop lol, just think of the farms that keep thousands of birds, there is so much poop it finds its way to the ocean and causes huge dead spots where the only thing that lives there is seaweed and algae.

45 pounds? goodness, that is an awful lot! No wonder I am cleaning that coop out so much :th

Here it is, very late at night again and I'm playing catch-up.

MoriahQuilts-I wanted to tell you how sorry I am for the loss of your friend. I think there's more of us that struggle with depression than anybody really knows. It's a sign of the times, I think.

Cynthia & Lisa-we did good, huh? Howard always says I can't keep a secret, but we sure surprised Lisa tonight with that beautiful showgirl! She was SUCH a good baby while she was here. Not a peep out of her, super friendly and fun to look at! Howard had asked me earlier today "What if Lisa doesn't want it?" I told him "Then I'm going to keep her!" LOL! And as we were visiting with Lisa, the subject came up of chickens she did NOT want at this time....Silkies being one of them. Howard and I gave each other "the look". We said, "well, we have something to show you". Haha! As soon as Lisa saw the showgirl and we told her Cynthia sent her back special for her, she was instantly in love.

I should have had my camera ready-the look of shock on her face was PRICELESS!

Ah, and yes. Yes, I did take Lisa's frizzle Polish roo.

I just couldn't resist! He is SO stinking cute. So now I have a beautiful (smooth) cuckoo white crested polish roo who needs a new home. Lisa said she's willing to take him with her this weekend to Idaho if anybody wants him between Logan and Idaho Falls. He's going to be quite the looker. I'll take/post pictures tomorrow of him. He's a pretty wussy roo-not 100% he is a roo, maybe 80% sure.

He gets along great with my Bantam Wyandotte roo, haven't seen an ounce of meanness in him. He is a baby from Auntie Hattie. I think about 6 weeks old.

Oh, and Lisa! All those pictures of the Seattle area were fun! We lived there for 2 years, courtesy of the US gov't. Seeing those pics brought back memories. :)

Sphinx, before I forget (again)....pretty sure your gold laced polish are bearded, so no wattles. Makes sexing them fun! Ha ha

Hurry up and wait.

so much talk of depression, i want to say i am sorry to all those that have lost people to that war. depression is something i have dealt with all my life and i also have a very long history of suicide. so i have been there and it sucks to feel that way. i think its great more people are talking about it now because there was a time not long ago it was not talked about. but anyway i am sorry for the loss of life and my thoughts go to the family. hopefully her kids will not ever step foot on that path
