Utah!

Just my thoughts on Polish..... STOP you have shown me more Polish chickens that I want now!!!!:he  My little bantam Gertie lays an egg about 5 times a week and the egg is the size of my standard Ameraucana. Cynthia why must you tempt me.

Gertie is an overachiever woohoo! That is awesome they are so big. She needs to hang out with my Australorp and teach her how it is done.

Happy2bhere! How are you!? Long time no see.
I can't stop looking at those polish pictures. Very fun. Where are they from? By the way my Polish hasn't gone broody yet and for heavens sake she better NOT! Three are enough to worry over.

Lisa I keep laughing out loud and my DH keeps asking what I am laughing at. Maybe I'm just punchy because it is late but I don't think so. You are funny girl! Thanks for the laughs.

x2. However, I've had some help resisting. Continually losing birds helps

(Lost one of the turkeys. Que Taps, please)

Aunt Hattie, I don't think an AC for the coop is a bad idea. I try to let my chickens out in the afternoon, since it's baking outside and I'm sure they're much more comfortable in the shade and dirt under the bushes. My brother has taken to misting them when he checks their water. He's such a good uncle. I liked the practice so much, I've started doing the same thing. They get cold water change outs, and if I think they're hot enough, they get a little dip in a bucket of cold water (Funny enough, my chick, Chuck Norris, is the only one that likes being dipped) We're also experimenting with giving them ice cubes to play with. And the chicks in the smaller enclosures get wet towels draped over the sides during the day. Am I boring you yet?

Thank you everyone for the tips on how to round up the hooligans. I would leave them out there and let them wander back into their enclosures on their own, but 1- some are just not that bright, and 2- we get a lot of random dogs wandering into our yard. I let the chickens run around out back, but it isn't fenced in completely. Usually we have to patrol the yard while the bawk bawks are out. I'll try some different treats and see what results I get, thanks. Now if I could just get more than two or three of them to listen to me. Seriously. Only two of the big girls will come when they think I have food. Only one smaller girl comes when I call to her, and that girl would be Angel. Heh, at least the name sticks.

Sasha, before I forget again - I LOVE Clay! He's such a cute boy.

I know I'm forgetting other things I wanted to comment on here. So I will say this: To those who are new that I missed greeting,

To those who are sick/have lost birds/are dealing with real life difficulties,

And to those with new chicks or other good news,

Well I'll tell ya what, I'm slap happy from the hour, for sure! Just the term 'punchy' is making me giggle. No lie. Good night, all.

Oh. My. Gosh. Those are GORGEOUS Polish! You guys KNOW I'm a sucker for Crele. Cynthia, do you know if they are LF or Bantam? If they are bantam, you'd better count me in for a couple chicks! Today, I'm worrying that I have 2 boys, of the 2 I just got from Auntie Hattie.

Most of the pictures look crele to me.
Me too! American Fork..close to Pleasant Grove, and has some nice land outside the city area for chickens!

Shinx, I think the traffic will get a 100% better once that remodeling of the freeway gets done. Trust me, we can hardly wait down this way. Most of it is supposed to be done this fall...Oh I hope, before the holidays would be nice!

Ok, so I have a dumb question..and I don't want to go to the Polish site, but I will be, to check some things out, but I want to know right now..you hear me Lisa? Here goes..are Polish like Silkies...all bantams..or are there LF Polish. I just can't get over that cute one you just placed. I am going to do more Polish eggs, it's bee a while, I just can't remember if they are considered bantam, I do remember them being small though. I had a blue with the white top. A man came down all the way from Idaho for him, because he had been watching for one to go with his blue. The ones I'm going to hatch are crele, brown, and something else different. I like different. :p I remember thinking of them like a leghorn personality, flighty, not as friendly as some hens, but I don't mind, these crele are really pretty. I'll see if I can get pictures of them, they are on their way! So, like bantams?
Just remembered, barred and cuckoo too.

These are the birds my eggs are coming from. They look bigger than the picture
that you showed Lisa. Or was that someone else? Is this the barred?

Wonder what that color is..the lighter one? I want the first color above, or the orange one. :) Guessing
a barred baby on the right.

So funny he's kind of cute.

Ooo, this one..

This must be what that baby above is going to look like. Is this the cuckoo?

After watching a movie with Howard, I fell asleep on the couch.

Man, I am so tired. The product of a combination of working my tail off today on our little farm with 100* temps, and just kind of a emotionally draining day. Nothing necessarily bad happened, I was just, well, an emotional girl!
I sat with my chickens for quite a while today. Clay makes me so happy. He's such a sweet boy. Thanks, Red, for loving him. :) He jumps on me every chance he gets, and loves to sleep in my lap or on my shoulder.

Anyway! Before I post pictures, let's see if I can remember a few this posted earlier (before I fell asleep!) that I wanted to comment on. LOL

Lisa-good job on the nesting boxes! It looks great. Oh, and the Tolbunt Polish....I think I like those even better than the crele! But eggs are sooo expensive!
Sundancen-Awww, little Sphinx babies! And Purree looks like she loooves her babies. So sweet. I'm super sorry about your little prolapsed vent chick.
Red-I'm glad your Marans has some buddies to talk "girl talk" with now. :)
Cynthia-LOVE the little smiling duck butts! Haha! And congrats on the 4-5 eggs a day now!
BluJems-congrats on the Maran's egg!
Chick-in-the-Burbs-I agree with Lisa. Move this way! LOL In Hyrum (where I'm at) they have VERY lenient animal policies, as long as you don't live in a subdivision. We live in the section of town that is considered "agricultural" but we are only 2 blocks south of main street, and 1 block east of center! LOL Super quiet, small town, but USU is only a 15-20 minute drive. You can have as many roosters as you want! Haha My DH's family is from the American Fork/Pleasant Grove area. When you go there for your mini vacation, definitely stop at The Purple Turtle in PG....they have like over 100 flavors of shakes! Oh, and my DH just retired after doing 23 years and 9 months, active duty army. :)
OK, I think that is all.

i have actually thought about an ac for the coop but i must not, they have a box fan running in the coop nearly 24/7 so at least my girls have that and my family thinks i am crazy for giving them that (and this is the same family that bawks at me for not heating the coop in the winter lol) i may take a wet towel and freeze it and then hang it in front of the fan tho so it works like a swamp cooler tho

It's been a little while since I've put pictures up of my girls...

Bullet

Goldie-this girl has got to be close to laying. My DH says I'm impatient, I say I'm just egg-cited! LOL

Frizz

Liz

I swear Liz does this every time I pull my camera out! Funny girl.

Elvis

Hedwig. She doesn't look even a little bit pink in this picture, but I swear she's waaay pink.

Are you guys bored yet? Good! 'Cause I'm about to give Clay his own post.
