Clay

You can't really see his copper color that is starting to come in. I'll have to retake some pictures in the sunlight tomorrow. Er, later today. :)

I promise his foot isn't twisted. He was just turning. :)

OK, I'm done torturing everyone for the night. Goodnight!

Sasha....Your Birds are Beautiful...Love Clay, he is adorable.

Red...I used to take a handful of stale cereal (The blue wyandottes Loved Cocoa Puffs LOL) I know it is considered bad for them.

But it worked LOL
Now the hubby buys scratch for them and it works but there is always one that plays hard to get....It is a matter of finding the right snack.

now as for the polish....Why must you keep tempting me? I am trying to be good with no more chicks coming in....Although I am going to need another BCM Hen, and one more Blue Wheaton Hen..............

Sasha, oh man i love Clay. He is so round and small and cute! Loved the flock pics. Frizz and Liz, cute names :)

Cynthia, I somehow think you have homes in advance for those polish babies....they sure are cute! Those do mostly look crele to me....I have seen a couple of those rooster boys on the Polish thread, I think I know which breeder you are getting them from, super nice birds! It will be fun to see those baby pics. I have not heard whether they are hard to hatch or not, I hope not!

Thanks, Cindy. :) If you're willing to wait until the spring, I'm going to give up my blue wheaten Ameraucana, and go a different direction with my flock. (All bantam)

Haha :) Thanks, Lisa. Clay really is round! But when I pick him up, he's mostly just fluffy.

I sooo named him appropriately. (After The Packers linebacker, Clay Matthews.)
I think I am going to try more eggs from Clay's breeder next year. We had a horrible hatch with her eggs, but everybody deserves a 2nd chance, yes? I desperately want a couple crele girls to put with Clay!

Hope you have better luck! Is she the only one you can find with crele bantam wyandottes? They must be pretty rare, I have not come across them with all my surfing around here....you are brave to give it another go :) I have shipped egg phobia right now. But I know I will end up doing it again. "hi my name is Lisa, I am a hatchaholic......"

Lots of posts to catch up on again, as usual!!

LOVE all the pics of everyone's own cats and chickens... those polish really are amazing looking birds, fun to have some ornamental ones like that... fortunately, I'm not feeling overly tempted...

Lisa... awesome job on the nest boxes!! I also like the idea of putting the frozen water bottles IN the next boxes... I'm going to try it!

Red... I use table scraps to get my chickens in, they LOVE it!! (just the stuff that is ok for them to eat, but it's always a variety, so they like it=) They'll come running to me as soon as they see me, even if I don't have anything... they smaller ones are learning from the bigger ones. One of the things they REALLY like is ham... I don't give them much, because of the salt, but they fight over that more than anything else, that and cheese=)

Sasha... I'll take your Blue Wheaten in the spring!! She is really pretty!

Speaking of shuttle... I decided to post this on here... I'm trying to get some chicks from Moriahquilts, she's in Lindon... anyone going that way anytime in the next couple of weeks?? My brother lives in Sandy area and is coming home the weekend of the 27th, he would bring them up with him, I know, and stop anywhere along the way to pick them up.... And there's always a chance we will go down to visit DH's fam...

Anyone else I missed??? sorry if I forgot to comment!!

Blujems, I also may rehome a couple.....I have 5 wheaten/blue wheatens......3 BWA from azriel and 2 WA from pawtraitart, I may give up one of each, but I want to see the eggs first lol You get first dibs if I do :D

I had a dream about Sasha's family last night, it was hysterical. They were selling us a house, it was not the house they have now, it was a weird house, leaning really bad to the side, and Sasha kept telling me it was straight up and down. It was so funny, I thought I was seeing things. then I went inside and everything was upside down. My husband says "no its not" Sasha says "no its not" so I am sure that I am losing my mind. Then I went outside, and it was my yard, my chickens were out there. Sasha says "no their not" then I went back inside, and it was my house. Sasha says "no its not" haha this went on for what seemed like hours in my dream. Everything just kept changing. When I woke up I was pretty happy it as over, so that I know I am not crazy. At least for the most part.....

Cynthia---There are LF and bantam polish. Both! The LF are a little smaller than your standard hen though. about 2/3 to 3/4 size. Personally I prefer the LF, they are broody less. They can be skittish, due I think to the lack of sight.....they scare easy. They are however very sweet and none of mine pick on anybody. The bantams seem to be more skittish, the LF much more calm.
They are way less broody than silkies, and lay bigger eggs....some breeders brag that their LF polish lay standard large size eggs, and they lay more frequently as well. Remember Dick Horstman, you got your pencils from him? (some were broken then he sent you chicks I think?) He has show quality black white crested LF polish, very very nice, and says they lay large white eggs, and several per week.
My favorite is the Tolbunt. They look like calico colors, similar to mille fleur but the yellow is more dark orange. Super cute. I have got a few people I am thinking about contacting next spring to see if I can hatch one for myself. Maybe.....the crele sound fun, Sasha had those wyandotte eggs that color and her little Clay is adorable......now I have sworn no more chicks then you go and hatch Polish....TORTURE~~!
Let us know what ya get, I am excited to see!

Is the Tolbert ab Frizzle breed? When I looked int them they looked frizzle.
