Thanks, Cindy.Sasha....Your Birds are Beautiful...Love Clay, he is adorable.
Red...I used to take a handful of stale cereal (The blue wyandottes Loved Cocoa Puffs LOL) I know it is considered bad for them. But it worked LOL![]()
Now the hubby buys scratch for them and it works but there is always one that plays hard to get....It is a matter of finding the right snack.
now as for the polish....Why must you keep tempting me? I am trying to be good with no more chicks coming in....Although I am going to need another BCM Hen, and one more Blue Wheaton Hen..............
HahaSasha, oh man i love Clay. He is so round and small and cute! Loved the flock pics. Frizz and Liz, cute names![]()
Cynthia, I somehow think you have homes in advance for those polish babies....they sure are cute! Those do mostly look crele to me....I have seen a couple of those rooster boys on the Polish thread, I think I know which breeder you are getting them from, super nice birds! It will be fun to see those baby pics. I have not heard whether they are hard to hatch or not, I hope not!
Cynthia---There are LF and bantam polish. Both! The LF are a little smaller than your standard hen though. about 2/3 to 3/4 size. Personally I prefer the LF, they are broody less. They can be skittish, due I think to the lack of sight.....they scare easy. They are however very sweet and none of mine pick on anybody. The bantams seem to be more skittish, the LF much more calm.
They are way less broody than silkies, and lay bigger eggs....some breeders brag that their LF polish lay standard large size eggs, and they lay more frequently as well. Remember Dick Horstman, you got your pencils from him? (some were broken then he sent you chicks I think?) He has show quality black white crested LF polish, very very nice, and says they lay large white eggs, and several per week.
My favorite is the Tolbunt. They look like calico colors, similar to mille fleur but the yellow is more dark orange. Super cute. I have got a few people I am thinking about contacting next spring to see if I can hatch one for myself. Maybe.....the crele sound fun, Sasha had those wyandotte eggs that color and her little Clay is adorable......now I have sworn no more chicks then you go and hatch Polish....TORTURE~~!
Let us know what ya get, I am excited to see!
