Utah!

I got to meet Lord Scott and Lady Diana (aka Sundancebare) tonight! What a delightful couple! Fun, spunky, and full of stories - I want to tell her stories to you all, but I guess that's not fair cuz you need to hear them straight from her

! (Ok - a few snippets - She has trained jumping horses (which I adore), and a chicken to bow, her cats are international award winners, she loves animals with remarkable appearances, her husband is a Lord in Scotland, and she used to ride her horses up the mountain by my house.) She is a true animal lover. You would never know she spent the week in the hospital, she has so much energy.

She's traveling with a gorgeous Sphynx cat. The first time I have ever seen one - it was beautiful. And three adorable little LITTLE yorkies. And three cute chickies - the pic she posted of the bantam with the bullseye spot does not show the markings - its a bullseye on the top of its head. And six chickies from me doing the shuttle. And she may have been hiding something else in there!

They were very fun.

Sundance - I have a neighbor who raises exotic snakes... They are varigated - the colors and patterns change down the length of the snake. I'll have to introduce you

I would love to see the snakes. I', going to help out with the 60 rescue geese next week as well. It was a pleasure

Two more dogs in the yard
he.gif
One in West Valley, one in Tooele. Fortunately, the WV one was a very good girl and didn't bother my chickens or put up a fuss when I caught her and walked her to her owner. The lousy dog in Tooele, on the other hand, is the same dog that wiped out my BF's flock a while ago. And there were casualties this time, too. Honestly, I'm going to stop saying anything about it here. I feel like I'm making it everyone else's problem, and I don't want to. Sorry, all.

I don't know what your situation is but there are 40 emus in California that need to be rescued. You may want to consider adopting a couple. They would protect all your livestock from the dogs. Just an idea.

My 11-yr-old son has decided he wants to raise and show bantams. Vorwerk, Sebright, and Pyncheon are the breeds he is most interested in. I am quite nervous about the idea- we already have 10 LF (I believe the limit for Salt Lake City is 15) and we would need to build a separate coop in our already crowded yard. It has also been a frustrating couple of weeks with the girls we already have (injuries & escapees). Before I can give him a definite yes or no answer I need to do some research on cost (extra coop/run, feed, SQ birds, entrance/association fees, etc.), breeders, care of SQ birds, and who know what else. Anyone out there know where I can get the info I need? I am particularly looking for local, reliable breeders of SQ bantams.

A little will ago someone was asking about BLRW from a woman named Rebbeca on KSL. I thought i might show the rooster i got this spring ( i was hoping for a hen). Next spring if she is selling i am buying, I really want a hen. They are such nice eye candy. Oh ya, at 5 months old he hasn't started to crow., in fact he does't really make any noise. I hope he turns out to be the big silent type.

I have one of her hens I love her

Countryroots--I would contact the Utah Fancy Poultry Association. You could google--I do have a guys name and number that is a member up here in Logan, if you can't find it pm me I could give you his name.

Red----Dang dog needs to knock it off, I would be tempted to take him out too, you are in such a difficult position, the owner should not let that happen. People need to take responsibility for their pets!

Cynthia, I love blue eggers, do not care about the genes, if you get a blue egg and hatch an extra blue chick I will buy it for sure! i will find a way to get it from you if you do, if it does not work I will be patient and get one someday if you get more or in the spring I could try to find some to hatch.....I will cross fingers and hope you get a few blues in there! I sure hope your showgirl pulls through. Sending good vibes for healthy babies your way!

Anybody want my blue boy? Free to a nice BYC home......;)

I went to CAL ranch today :D I bought THREE things, want to guess what they were? :p :p :p Hey btw where is Sphinx? Girl I am sooo jealous if you are camping!

Haha!! Busy day on the UT thread!!!

Red... so sorry about the chickens, it definitely sounds like it's time to take matters into your own hands, or an emu or two... Those dogs can be persistent.. I had some break into a chain link fence and then through some locked cages once to get some rabbits when I was younger.. made me SOOO mad!

Iain, so awesome about the geese... again wishing I had more space and less zoning restrictions, I would take a goose over a duck, anyday!

A HUGE THANK YOU to Sundance and Moriah for more chicken shuttling, seriously, you're all going to get some eggs or something equivalent next spring out of my pens, something good...

Lisa... wish I had the space now for that Blue Ameracauna, those are really pretty, too and I would put my Leghorn EE's with him=) P.s, LOVE the pics of your growing flock, pretty birds, LOVE those Wheatens from Michelle!! gorgeous!

Off to bed, long day at work and I am TIRED=)

There is way too much fun going on here. Beautiful chicken pictures and beautiful geese! I wish I could help out with the geese.

Sundancen I'm glad you are out of the hospital and I hope you continue to get better.

Red :( you have way to many roaming dogs in your neighborhood. I love hearing all the solutions to the problem. Mule, emus, hot wire fence. I think we are going to get this problem figured out for you. :D

Question........ What on earth is all of this chick buying from Cal Ranch! You guys have got to stop telling me about these things. I have 8 eggs hatching in 9 days and I was considering going and looking at IFA to see if they had some and I don't even know what i'm going to do with the chicks I'm hatching! ( no Cal Ranch here) sheesh!

Well my little broody Silkie has been surviving in the big outdoors under the bush. 9 more days to go! I've been a nervous wreck with her out there. This will not be allowed to happen again. I will catch her earlier and make her stay in the coop! Way to stressful.
