Utah!

I was going to bring this up, but I only see these things on-line. If you go to the Americauna Breeders' site, they have pics of chicks and a lot of them have pink legs as chicks. Some seem to start off slate. I get that hatcheries mis-label EE's as Americaunas, but to state that they are pure bred and NOT EE is something new. Charging 18.00 for it also makes me think that it might be authentic. I am quite new so I don't know, but I did want to chime in any way, lol.
Ya Lilwanis that is where I was told to look at from my pet chicken. I know that they will reimburse me if they did make a mistake but I don't think they did cause they don't even have blue EE they said they only have the Wheaten EE and she is for sure blue. SOOOO PRETTY!
Can't wait to see her eggs.........its going to be awhile though hu?!
I guess we will all just have to wait and see what she really is..........
Thanks sooo much you guys for all the info and input! I really feel like we are all UTAH CHICKEN FRIENDS!!!!

Well we will sure cross our fingers you get a nice blue egg from that girl, and that she is what they said she was! I sure hope so! The chicks are definitely so adorable :love

Fuzzy butts are the bestest !

One of my wheatens when I first got her. I did go and read up on the legs for Ameraucanas
Interesting...hjink, says that her buff's will be a light pink, and change over time. And that
some do, but usually will darken up by 6 weeks...sorry,,I gave some wrong info..not all
Ameraucanas, are hatched out with dark legs! I guess I've just had them hatch that way for
me. So, I will not be surprised now, if I ever get some Ameraucana chicks with light legs. Good
to know!

My Wheatens/BW all have lighter legs....still gray but lighter shade of gray than the BBS. Not as blackish/slate colored.
Urban, I don't think you have the EE and the Orp mixed up, the EE has pretty puffy cheeks. Still looks like an EE to me though! Michelle didyou see the pics? What do you think? "My pet chicken" is where it came from.....I got hatching eggs from them last spring and the Ameraucana eggs were all off white or pale green, no blue....so I wonder!
No, I didn't see the picture. This thread moves along too fast for me sometimes! Excellent activity, here. :)

I'd be surprised if a purebred Ameraucana came from a hatchery, though. Unless they list the birds as a specific color variety, it could be pure in the sense that they are breeding ameraucana to ameraucana, but the colors could be all mixed up which makes easter eggers that won't breed true to color variety.

Oh, but I have to say that I have nothing against easter eggers. One of my favorite hens is an easter egger and she lays a gorgeous blue egg. I don't like it when people charge big bucks for something that isn't what they say it is, though.

UrbanCM, after seeing Pawtrait's post about the pink legs as babies, it reminded me - one of my black Ameraucana's had pink toes as a baby. Over time, they became black. Well, don't I feel like a goof

Hey, we're all learning, right?

Must go take the bro to work, but I shall return, muahaha!

I got to meet Sundance, her hubby, and their grandson today. Nice folks. I got to see her flock and some of their little quail, too. Soooo cute! It's always fun to see other peoples' birds. She has a gorgeous little d'Uccle and a frizzle, and a big, beautiful sex-link that tattles whenever anyone lays an egg. Lisa, it made me think of your BR, Violet. It was fun to chat with Sundance, too. Except you know that mask I was wearing for the sprayer, Diana? It didn't quite conform to my face, and I am now the proud owner of white nose hairs

Whew, you guys have been busy on here! Cynthia, I hope you get some good rest and feel better soon.

Lisa, I think it's normal for a lot of chickens to molt when Fall comes around. I haven't seen it yet with my flock, but I'm sure they won't be far behind the times. My EE roo in Tooele molted a little over a month ago, and now his feathers are coming back in, including the tail that dog took. Poor guy has some dignity again!

I heard someone singing the egg song yesterday evening, but when I peeked out back, I could see that it wasn't any of my three known layers. So, I figure I've got another new layer getting ready to start. My guess is that it's either the Exchequer I got from Cynthia, or else one of the Wyandotte sisters from Lisa (Lisa, can you believe Angel and Stevie are that old already?!) THere's a slim chance it could be my oldest Icelandic pullet, too, which is crazy. She's smaller than the Leghorn! But her face definitely has more red in it. I'm on the lookout for new little white eggs in the yard.

forgive me all but lthildyn i have to ask you what kinds of parrots you have? i am a little parrot crazy lol

We have an African Grey and a Moluccan Cockatoo :)

ETA: I just read your sig line - our Cockatoo was something of a rescue. He was abused and on consignment at the pet shop down the street from us. My brother just caved and bought him so he wouldn't go back to the abusive owner. That was close to 20 years ago.
