only the shadow knows.....
I'm having a problem with my eggs right now. 2 of the 8 girls are now laying. Both have very thin shell. I'm getting some oyster shells tomorrow to help with that.

The other problem is a little trickier. Somebody is laying while setting on a perch! I've found 2 eggs under one perch about 2 days a part. How do I stop her (whoever she is) from laying her eggs from up there?!!!

Is she a first time layer? If so, her body just hasn't regulated yet and she is droping eggs in her sleep, probably. Once her body regulates itself she'll begin laying during the day and not when she's on the roost.

Yup, my girls are almost 22 weeks. One Black sexie is laying real pretty eggs, although the shells are a bit thin. I don't think she is the one on the roost. There is one more with a comb as big as hers that hangs out on that roost with a RRI. I don't think it's the RRI. Both of those eggs were just surrounded by a membrane and not a hard shell.

I have no suggestions. Was hoping to read someone else's suggestions. We had a really stupid chicken once, she would fly up to the porch rafters and lay her egg from up there, 8feet in the air. Never got to eat her eggs.

Once you figure out who it is....I wonder if it would work to somehow confine her to a small area with a nest box...to see if she gets the idea.

It would be a shame if you never get to eat her eggs like newguineachooks !
