Six years ago I brought home six baby bantie chicks with absolutely no knowledge of chicken raising, and despite my mom's initial bewilderment and my false promises that we could give them to farm "later", we somehow managed to raise them all in the house and eventually move them into a luxury coop outdoors. Before then, I had no idea chickens could even have personalities. Now I am completely smitten with the entirety of feathered species.

Of the original six, two are left - one rooster who crows on command, and one hen.
